Saints Interested In Adam Federici Wednesday, 22nd Apr 2015 15:04 Saints are reported to be interested in taking Reading's Adam Federici to St Mary's next season. Federici who saw a great season for Reading tarnished by an error that saw Arsenal win the FA Cup semi final at Wembley 2-1, but Federici remains popular with both Reading fans and players and they recognise that all keepers make errors from time to time and that the Australian was just unfortunate that it was in such a high profile game. With Fraser Forster being out for the start of next season and possibly well into it before he is fit enough to return Ronald Koeman has to consider what options he has at his disposal and whether he should bring in an experienced keeper, his dilemma is whether he consider Forster will not only come back sooner than later and whether he will make a full recovery. Just who Koeman brings in will perhaps signify the confidence they have in Forster making a full recovery, when the likes of Tim Krul are linked that tends to suggest that Forster's problems may be bigger than hoped whilst the likes of Federici would seem that the club have confidence in a swift return for the England keeper. Federici is an experienced keeper and at age 30 would be of the quality that Saints would consider a good back up for Forster, however his Premier League experience is limited to 21 games when Reading played in it for the second time in 2012/13. He is available on a free transfer which would also suggest that Saints if they sign him are looking for quality cover for Forster rather than someone who would challenge him for the number one spot, whilst it would be good to have the likes of Krul and Forster on the books, the reality is that neither would be happy at being number two for long.
