Barnsley deny Flicker approach
Barnsley deny Flicker approach

Barnsley have quashed "Sky Sports Understands...." rumours linking David Flitcroft with a return to Spotland.

There was a flurry of activity on Sunday as reports had suggested that Dale had approached Barnsley with a view to bringing Flicker back to Spotland to become the permanent boss at Spotland.

This came on the back of comments from Keith Hill a fortnight ago which suggested that Flicker had been Dale's number one target to replace Steve Eyre, but a strongly worded statement from the Tykes have suggested that there is nothing behind it:

"Barnsley Football Club have had no approach from Rochdale regarding our Assistant Manager David Flitcroft. Once again Barnsley Football Club seems to be the focus of rumours that have been made without any substance. David Flictcroft is an important part of our team here and he will be remaining here."

Chris Beech had his third game in charge as caretaker manager on Saturday as Dale crashed 2-0 at his former side Hartlepool United.

It dont matter wether Dale made an approach or not this is good for Dale as the seed has been well and truely planted and may well bear fruit (if needed) sometime in the future.

Something needs to change and fast. A Flitcroft brothers solution may be a good one
