Despite my euphoria I think it was an OG, but it wouldn't have happened without Tyreece being there to force the issue. Maybe he will come good, I certainly hope so. Nevertheless, an excellent point against a Notts County side who for some bizarre reason continued to try and play it out from the back and continually put themselves under pressure. |

Excellent research RS! Much as I often sip at Durham's kool-aid fountain, I think I agree that as things stand it probably is a season too soon for the Cowley's U's. However, six points from the next two and it's definitely still on, even four points keeps the dream alive. Three (or less) and I think we just have to consolidate, finish as strong as we can and prepare for next season. Sadly, I also agree about Tyreece. I think he has potential, but not good enough for the team as they are currently performing. I wouldn't send him back, maybe a few months on the training pitch and a few cameo appearances from the bench can bring him up to the standard we need in the final run-in? |

Since our draw at Barrow back in early November we've played 17 league games, with seven victories, eight draws and just two defeats. That's an average points per game of just under 1.71 points. If we maintain this form over the remaining 16 games, we'll finish on about 68-69 points, and almost certainly not quite enough for the play-offs. This time last season (i.e. Match #30 or thereabouts) the fourth team in the play-offs (Harrogate Town) were on 47 points. This season, it's Crewe Alexandra on 49 points, so two points better. At the end of last season, Crawley took the last play-off place on 70 points, so reasonable to assume this season the target is probably going to be 72-73 points. So, we'd be 3-4 points short, unless of course we can turn at least two more draws into victories - certainly not impossible (but for a goalkeeping worldy yesterday we could have won that one for sure). We do, however, have some tricky games to come, but it's definitely doable. For context, the last sixteen games of last season included games against six of the top seven sides, albeit we only averaged a point per game in the run in. Incidentally, we're only four points short of equally our entire points total for 2023/24. |

I don't know what VPN provider you use, but perhaps try a double VPN next time (some of them call it "obfusticate servers" or something like that). |

Not sure where they're getting their data from - in all competitions (including the AutoWindscreen) we've played Carlisle 57 times, won 23, drawn 15 and lost 19. I think they might be counting since we returned to the football league, but even then the record should read won 13, drawn 11 and lost 11. We are long overdue a win though, haven't done so since that 3-0 just before lockdown in 2021 that sneaked us into the play-offs. |

Great stuff Durham. For obvious geographical reasons I’ve only been to Brunton Park once, but it was for that epic last game survival in 2013 - what a day that was! Sobering to think that of the two sides relegated, Scunthorpe have dropped beyond even the National league and Bury ceased to exist for a while. |

Hadn’t realised he was involved in that incident. I read that all three apologised, and were sacked by Leicester City. Doesn’t condone anything, but it would appear he has at least learned from and put that sort of behaviour behind him. |

Carlisle are bottom for a reason, but I suspect they'll give us a tougher game than top of the table Walsall did. I'd take a point right now for sure. |

…gets off the mark with the second goal for that lot down the road in a 3-1 victory over Halifax. Ben Goodliffe got an assist for their first goal as well. Despite who it’s for, I’m genuinely pleased for them both, and particularly Tom, who was already starting to get flak from a few of their supporters. |

A draw, though a Notts County win wouldn’t trouble me too much. Our next big hurdle is bridging the eight point gap between us and the play-off places. I think the autos are just about beyond us now. I’ve watched quite a few League 2 podcasts recently, and they’re all suggesting us as the possible late run dark horse this season - it’s just whether there are enough games in the season left to make up that amount of ground. |

I did see that article, quite a good read I thought. Regardless of what happened with JT, or Aaron Donelly this season, the article does well to highlight the uncertainty attached to season-long, particularly if the player does well. The author mentions but doesn’t really drill too deeply into the role/ influence of agents. Cutting a loan short is ultimately the decision of the parent club, but it is undoubtedly the agents stimulating the interest. It would be nice to see a much more rigidly defined set of criteria governing when and why loanees could be recalled, but that would of course have to include because he’s being sold (Donnelly) or needed to fill the void from someone else being sold (Nathan Lowe). I would however draw the line at just because they can place him with another club at a higher level. Sadly though, if JT had been scoring all those goals in a winning side, we might not have lost him in the first place. |

Sadly a symptom of modern society these days. Racist/ abusive language (spoken and written) has been a plague on football for decades, but it's proliferating now, emboldened by the likes of Trump, Farage, Musk, Yaxley-Lennon and many others, and reinforced by their sycophantic bootlickers. I fear it'll get worse before it gets better. |
