| Forum Thread | A big thank you at 12:16 18 Dec 2023
To the kind soul who found and handed in my Season Card which I lost on the way to the match on Saturday. |
| Forum Thread | John Rowe Funeral Arrangements at 12:33 25 Nov 2021
Afternoon all, You may recall the lovely comments on here and in the TVOS from 2 weeks ago following the sad news of the death of John Rowe (A View from Row F). I know TVOS, Col and others can't escape work commitments, but for those of you who can make it the cortege will be leaving Dignity on Spotland Bridge at 10.30am and will pass the ground on the way to the Crematorium for the funeral at 11.10am. Would be great if some of you could be there - Frances says the Club staff will be gathering on Sandy Lane. Mourners are invited to join Pauline and the family in the Ratcliffe Bars from 12.30pm [Post edited 25 Nov 2021 16:10]

| Forum Thread | Record the anniversary match celebrations at 13:08 24 Aug 2021
Suggested to Frances Fielding that a video (as well as photo gallery) should be made of all the pre-match celebrations on Friday - especially for those like me who can't attend. I'd happily pay for that sort of record. |
| Forum Thread | Lucky or deserved victory at 11:29 3 Feb 2020
Probably this should be a poll but I'm not a fan! Been mulling this over since Sat. Match Thread echoes my neighbouring fans comments then that we were lucky, didn't deserve the victory and it was 'embarassing that our keeper was MOM'. True, Shrews gave us little space, had more possession and shots and created chances, but dominating possession doesn't guarantee a win (as Dale know to their cost). Yes, we made a couple of potentially costly defensive errors, misplaced some passes and the pitch & conditions were poor. It was a dour watch but in the end we both had 4 shots on target, our keeper saved all their's and their's didn't - that's skill not luck. Our goal didn't bobble off a hillock & take a dozen deflections! Of course 'run of the ball' matters in any ball game and we had that but what do folk think - luck or merit? |

Interesting update from Syed Ali on the Club's news page about the first 3 months of his post - some great initiatives taking off. Hope the Trust will be able to get fully behind this. |
| Forum Thread | Funny old game at 17:36 13 Mar 2018
Whatever our final position, this season feels like the bigger the problem, the more it's been part of the solution - try wing-backs formation in friendly at Morecambe then forget it ...when we're rock-bottom try it again; our best loan defender is recalled at short notice.. Ryan Delaney gets his chance; our best wing-back crosser gets sold.. makes up Hilly's mind about where to play Done; journeyman Wiseman is cup tied so McGahey gets back in; Ollie can't make the same impact as last season... Cannon gets a recall; right footed Williams/Inman don't work @ left MF.... left footed Kitching gets his chance; the fans' favourite gets injured... Humphrys gets his chance. For 2/3 of the season we hit the woodwork, one mistake loses the game... now we save pens & get 100% conversion rate of shots on target. Who said the run of the ball doesn't matter!! Up the Dale. |
| Forum Thread | iFollow annual renewal - another scam at 17:40 22 Dec 2017
As a Daleworld subscriber I was automatically migrated to iFollow when they took over in the summer. My annual sub expired this month but they won't allow me to renew that until the new season starts. Instead they want to charge for a monthly pass which works out at £9 p/a more than an annual pass. |
| Forum Thread | Yesterday's refereeing decisions - younger eyes needed? at 14:54 1 May 2016
Just watched 10 mins highlights on Player but still unsure - old age/ poor eyesight problem. Seems to me to confirm free-kick against Allen was wrong which was my initial reaction from Main Stand yesterday - looks like Jamie pulls his foot back, doesn't make contact & Swindon player jumps into him. Anyone else see it clearly? Also confirms 2 incidents of Swindon kicking/throwing ball away which rightly got cards. Still can't see any particular misdemeanour by their No 3 before the red card - surely would have to be violent conduct (as Sky Sports claim), spitting or offensive language/gestures? Or was it a 2nd offence but ref didn't show 2nd yellow? (Deserved it just for unsporting behaviour anyway in my view). Anyone know more? Pity about that side of Swindon's game cos they played some great football in an exciting match. |
| Forum Thread | RIP Tom Mumford at 17:46 28 Apr 2016
Just learned of the very sudden and sad death of my friend Tom Mumford early this morning after a short illness. Tom was a true supporter of Rochdale for well over fifty years and for the last ten or so years has been a season ticket holder with his wife Barbara in the Main Stand on the infamous 'Row F'! Tom and Barbara are extremely well-known to many Dale fans as they have been regulars at almost every single match, home and away, in recent years. Tom, a very good footballer himself in his day, will be badly missed by many of us. Friends have asked for this message to be read out on Saturday before the game - there will genuinely be many in the ground who will know Tom. It would be great for us all to hear him mentioned and much appreciated by Barbara. |
| Forum Thread | One big marketing own-goal at 17:37 21 Dec 2015
BBC Football website this evening reads "Hill concerned at fan discontent". Whatever your opinion, between the (minority) boos on Saturday, the interminable thread on the KH post match comments and those comments themselves, we've managed a cracking marketing own-goal. Bit pointless complaining about the club's weakness in the PR & Marketing areas as happens ad infinitum on this forum and then in a stroke creating an impression of a disunited, unwelcoming club which players & fans (existing and future) are far less likely to want to be part of. Time for all concerned to learn a bit of perspective - or time to bang a few heads together!! |
| Forum Thread | The wrong time for a bollacking at 22:35 28 Sep 2010
Tonight was an immense performance by all 14 players and perfect counter-attacking football. Alan Goodall had an immense first half - two feet, good positioning, great choices and intelligent balls to feet out of defence but in the second half he got done several times by a very good winger & Huddersfield's change of formation. He was then substituted & received a public bollacking from Keith Hill at the dugout - whatever the reason Keith, bollacking's are for doing in private. In public just show us how proud you are of all that team. We are. |
