I’d rather the increased communication was focused on injury news (which they now do so fair play), timely release of contractual information (now begins the long wait to see if Jimmy Dunne is a QPR player 1 July 2025 and for how long - will keep banging this drum), and off pitch focused updates (I don’t think we need gpt Nourry telling us why our form is bad or we’ve had injuries. We can see that one Christian). In general I agree this is better, but a bit more of a refined focus would be more productive. It still feels like he wants to talk about on the pitch stuff when it suits and ignore it when it suits. Pick an approach and stay consistent regardless of results. QPR have had chancers for years and the people around him should be advising that we will see through that sort of flip flop, credit-taking/shirking routine |

The rational part of me says there’s no way WBA, with their current financial situation, take that £3m and use it to pay compo for another manager. The emotional part of me is already entering extreme anxiety for Marti’s poaching. |

Strike him from the message, 23 is ancient by our standards now…we only deal in talented man children |

Morrison (21/22?) Varane (21), Morgan (18) and Kolli (19) through the spine of the team. As many have said, yes it’s unlikely those 4 can sustain the level yesterday across the next 25 games. But my word, how long is it since we had a clutch of good young players who are genuine prospects that we actually own? And one of them a proper R. Analyse and agonise if you want to. But just enjoying feeling good about our team again, with those 4 boys a huge part of that, over Christmas sounds better to me! [Post edited 22 Dec 8:42]

What an absolute fcking straw man presentation of what Cifuentes said. Wilfully misrepresenting his message, which was not we should be proud of how we played but that they should be proud that they managed to hang on in a game that 3 weeks ago we lose 3/4-0 and steal a point. The wind up merchants on this board are really taking the silly season seriously this year |

Worked under Hassenhutl at Saints too if I’m not mistaken. But as said above, and in many Lotforwords pieces over the last few years, you don’t go from SW/QPR mid/lower table to the prem. The biggest threat to us, SW, B’burn etc in managerial terms is a parachute payment club plus probably Sunderland getting rid/ losing their manager and taking them. Rohl definitely the vogue option at the moment |

Taking your club down in thrall to a style that is boring, ineffective, and arrogant - “progressive” Adapting to a more direct style to suit the players and context of the situation you’re in - “dinosaur” Very grateful our Marti doesn’t view the game like him. |

Totally agree with OP. Currently massive favourite for POTY. I think he’s far superior to Seny in terms of shotstopping and reflexes (Seny probably shades distribution and is much better commanding his box). Given how late the modern GK plays now (see previous role holder) we should have him for his best years and some. Upgrade on the guy in there last year is an understatement. Biggest win for the recruitment team this summer, with Varane a distant second for me. |

Think that’s the first time we’ve beaten a recently promoted side since Wigan at home under Honest Mick? Has felt for a long time we’re better when we don’t have the ball. As you say Clive, if that’s the case you have a very low ceiling (16th comes to mind). Agree that it doesn’t matter right now. Favourable run coming up. Get clear of it and then worry about our inability to pass the ball 10 yards with pace. |

I think it’s safe to say we are probably more likely to be in another relegation battle than not. Up to this week not sure a lot of it was Marti’s fault. But he has to take the blame for a lot of this run, where obvious weaknesses in the side are being left exposed and teams are taking advantage. Look at how many of the attacks today and against Hull were against our right hand side. Nothing to address it or tweak to shift bodies out to help a poor defensive unit that side. How poor we are at moving the ball through the thirds. No change of personnel or mixing it up. Playing Frey 95 minutes today when he looked clearly shattered after about 20. None of that is jelling. Feels like he’s digging into his principles when the reality is a lot of these players aren’t good enough do it. [Post edited 5 Oct 17:02]

It’s no surprise JCS misses 2 games and we lose. Add in colback (win % with and without etc etc) and still no chair we are under strength. Very concerned about the recruitment at RB. None of them look to the level, Dunne included. And we have 3 of them and 1 LB. For all the chat about smarter purchases full back looks a real issue |

Every single poster wetting the bed will simultaneously say we need to be smarter, buy low sell high, shop in lower leagues / abroad, and then - when the inevitable difficult period comes with that strategy - be willing to rip it all up for a dinosaur manager who will play 442 sign stalwarts and hit the big man. It is a massive, and underplayed by many, reason why we’re allergic to sticking to a strategy - our child like whimsical owners don’t exist in a vacuum, they feed off those fans’ sentiments (Uncle T especially back in the day). Wonder if they’ll even stream it at this point, given they refuse to release any of the playing or coaching staff for interviews etc (less Alfie Lloyd, unlikely to know the state secrets let alone sell them). Nourry is seriously shooting himself with this policy. If anyone can explain the upside here please have a go |
| Forum Reply | West London Sport at 08:59 23 Sep 2024
If it is club induced (I.e. Nourry telling them to get f’d) then this North Korean approach to comms is going to turn very sour in weeks not months - which quite a few of us on here have been saying was inevitable. That said, it sounds from what Dave Mc and Ian M have said previously this might just be harsh realities of local rags. Clicks on prem articles probably their major revenue stream even if the core fan base is more QPR. Theme of it all - comms vacuums bad, transparency good. |

Field at CB (albeit a mini injury crises and he actually did quite well), Walsh and EDB aside - would you actually be disappointed given current injuries? There will absolutely be games this season where that team isn’t too far off a normal league game side. Broken record but this isn’t Drewe and Kelman you’re talking about. 2/3 midfielders last night cost about 3.5 mil between them. Add in a (low confidence) c.2 mil striker. Nourry has explicitly said we’ve invested to able to have a deeper squad so we’re not Illy and Willy FC. I have to be honest I’m finding this idea that last nights team was incredibly weak to be very very odd, bar the exceptions above. |

“Play your best team”: So when does Ashby get a chance? Or Saito acclimatise? Or Celar try and find form? We’ve invested in a squad this season for this very reason. To be able to rotate, for league and cup games, without dropping the quality of the performance by a division. We were not bad last night. The idea our best eleven (which would have been maybe 3-5 players different?) would have made a huge difference is pie in the sky. “Doesn’t matter where you are in champs”: Agree this doesn’t apply to us right now, but it definitely p does impact promotion hunts. Look at boro and Cov last year, injuries suspensions etc, boro get to LC semi and get battered 6-1 on agg by the scum and never really recover in league. Cov have an unbelievable day out but league form goes off a cliff and don’t make play offs. “Was Warbs right to rest Willock”: Every single person moaning on this thread would have moaned if Willock played and got his hammy injury in that cup game, lambasting Warbs Warburton for not managing his minutes. Some of the comments comparing MC to McLaren et al are a joke. He isn’t playing f**** Aaron Drewe and Charlie Kelman lads, he’s playing players we’ve brought in for wedge and rotating a decent squad. That’s okay. [Post edited 18 Sep 7:39]

Every word. To add to one of your points ND- Squad rotation when you have Kakay Drewe and Kelman is one thing, but if you actually have some squad depth it’s *the right thing to do* to get minutes into Varane et al. They’ll be better for it and probably deserve it if they’re working hard in training etc. The same people moaning last night will be the ones who lambast the club if key players get injured for not managing their minutes better. Total unnecessary meltdown from the sorts of posters who I usually agree with! |
