Bright's brilliance lights up Birmingham - Report
at 16:47:37

BOS scored a similar solo goal at the start of last season in the League Cup against Bristol Rovers. Hopefully we won't have to wait so long for another now he's getting some consistent game time.

QPR click back into gear at Rovers' expense - Report
at 16:59:15

Kelly had so little to do it is hard to comment on whether it is the right decision to replace Lumley but his antics for the penalty left a lot to be desired. He was so busy jumping up and down and waving his arms around he had no chance of saving the penalty even if he guessed the right way. Better to wave your arms but keep your feet on the ground so you can launch yourself one way or the other (watch Schmeichel on MOTD, he didn't save the panalty but he had a much better go at it).

QPR hold their nerve to settle cup thriller - Report
at 14:35:12

Great game and great report. Only negative for me is the QPR kit - almost impossible to read the names/numbers in grey/silver/whatever colour it is on the back of the shirts so struggled to figure out who was who given so many unfamiliar faces on the pitch.

Big trouble in little W12 - Report
at 16:46:00

As always it's a case of taking chances. Washington should have done better in the first half before they scored. If that goes in and we are 1-0 up then the game changes completely. We were playing well at that point and City had barely threatened so confidence and who knows. It didn't and they scored against the run of play. Unfortunate Bidwell slipped blame the pre-game sprinklers?) but Ingram should have saved it even though it does go through another defenders legs. Second goal is down to poor defending, Bidwell mainly for not marking the incoming attacker, and little Ingram could do but even then as mentioned above if Eze hits the ball first time on 65 mins it's in the net and at 2-1 theres some hope.

A final point is the substitutions didn't make things better, especially Cousins for Luongo and taking Wszolek off when Smith came on as we had no one to run down the right side and put in any crosses. Smyth instead of Sylla would have been a better option.

Going to be a long hard season even with, hopeful, a decent striker now on board for Sat.

Kids shine as Onuoha and Mackie bid farewell - Report
at 16:44:52

Many thanks to Clive, and various stand-in's, for all the hard work in getting out previews and post match reports for 46+ games throughout the season. Always entertaining, well balanced and occasionally thought provoking.

Like many I did wonder how it would turn out on Sat with no recognised centre halves and 7 youngsters starting, and that didm;t include Smyth, but it was one of the most enjoyable games all season and a great testimony to the work done in recruiting, training and finally giving opportunities to some talented youngsters.

Agree with Chair as MOM but they all played their part, were not afraid to pick up the ball and run with it, including one mazy run from Kakay from right back position to the edge of the opposition penalty box, and to track back and defend when needed. Lumley also performed well bar the odd fumble and his distribution was better than we have seen for a while.

Given the progress we have made this season I think Holloway should be given the chance to carry on and build on this group of players as bringing in a new manager now, particularly given the shorter window this year, will only disrupt things. Clearly we need a decent striker and one or two central defenders, depending on whether Hall will ever be fit to play and whether we can persuade Robinson to stay or not. Washington is clearly out of the running and needs to be let go for whatever we can get for him. Similarly Cousins in my view. Olly has given him sufficient game time in recent weeks but I have not seen anything to make it worth retaining him, no goals, no assists and very little contribution going forward but a ability to pick up a yellow card.

All in all a satisfying season that met my, low, expectations. Let's hope we don't set them too high for next season and fall short. A top half finish will do.

QPR grind out Wigan win — Report
at 09:03:09

Report spot on. QPR were fortunate to come away with a win. We were grateful to the linesman for raising a flag to rule out the Wigan "goal" in the first half - which by the way was due to poor defending and poor goalkeeping. The goal was well taken but the free kick from which it was scored was given away by a completely stupid foul on Cousins who didn't even have the ball. Finally Wigan had an excellent chance to equalise int he dying seconds from a cross that was met unchallenged but put over the bar.

Defensively OK but there were lapses and again it was going forward where we lacked. Like Lee I was wanting Shadipo, or Washington, to come on and liven things up as neither Cousins or Yeni offered much going forward.

Had it been a half decent team we would have been grateful for a draw and would probably have lost.

QPR shake London derby monkey in fine style — report

Would have liked to see Washington and El Khayati brought on once we went three up, Couldn't see Philips stayed on for 90 mins when he was playing so poorly otherwise well deserved win against a poor Brentford side.

Learning to love January — Column

Agree with all that has been said here. What I can't understand is the willingness to let go promising youngsters, who have come up through the ranks but have never been given the chance to break into the first team.

At the beginning of the season Ehmer was allowed to go to Gillingham when he had had a successful season on loan and would have been a useful back up in case of injuries at centre half, this was before other recruits such as Angella were made.

More recently, and despite a chronic lack of cover at right back, Harriman has moved permanently to Wycombe despite having gained a lot of experience on loan over a couple of seasons.

Will Doughty be the next to go without a fair crack of the whip, or Furlong or Kpekawa?

Green’s heroics preserve win for spirited QPR — report
at 10:10:29

Another great report on one of the more memorable games at Loftus Rd this season. It is still a mystery how Wigan did not score - a combination of some fine tackles, great saves, poor finishing and a lot of luck - and chances are that had they done we would have ended up losing the game and had Wigan breathing down our necks.

I don't fully agree with the comments about LTC. Agree it was one of his best games but he does seem to freeze when in sight of goal. He had one clear shot, one of the few I can remember all season, that went straight at the goalkeeper when there was time and space to go for the far post. Another time he was in acres of space with the goal beckoning and all he did was his tradmark 360 degree turn giving time for defendrs to close him down and the chance went abegging.

Shame Barton doesn't get a mention as he put himself about all over the pitch (without getting a yelleo card for once). There was a 5-10 spell in the second half where he stood up to Wigan players in full flow three times and came away with the ball each time. He also made a few timely tackles in and around the box.

Let's hope for more of the same Sat though who knows which combination of players will start?
