Alfie Lloyd & Paul Smyth - Captains of Chaos
at 14:00 22 Jan 2025

I watched the extended highlights just now, mostly to hear a different view on commentary of the key incidents but it reminded me of the impact Alfie had on the game.

Smythy must be hard enough to play against when he gets service but Alfie takes it up a notch or two and is such a great impact sub that takes advantage of broken play to another level. Imagine if you are playing on the left side of the oppo’s defence, it must be a ‘mare to play against them.

After 60+ mins you see the subs and think phew - I can take a breather and then in the next attack you face Alfie bearing down on you all arms, legs, shoulders and somewhere between all of that muscle and momentum - the ball. And no, he doesn’t know where it is 100% of the time - or where it’s going either !

None of the movement seems to function together but it works and all of sudden there’s another opportunity followed by another and another. Far more effective and beneficial for the whole team than Sincs ever was and full of future potential.

Yet, just like John Lewis was never under sold, Alfie is never quite under control - and what a great thing that is to witness, support and celebrate.

Deep, unadulterated, farkin joy.

The QPRland of Misfit Toys

Xavi, players are overlooked for a variety of biased reasons and perceived flaws:

Age, appearances, personality, tekkers, ugly girlfriends, poor car choices, bad fashion choices like fur coats, stone selection & green bikini, Anita Dobson haircuts etc.

However, of the all the players for us to select, I believe that we now have a championship play-off team squad of footballers that we can chose from - IF - we play them in my 4-3-3 formation.

Because everyone else in the championship plays another system and therefore under values them or plays them the wrong way – look at Chrissy Willock and Flex Armstrong.

What do you mean, Marti ?

Well, look at Smythy for example. When he plays with Jimmy and Kieron on the right, there’s a very different player there – brimming with confidence and occasionally scoring, albeit from the halfway line.

Michi (check Tatt for spelling) gets goals because other players apparently know where he is running to and pass/cross accordingly. Rayan looks more and more instinctive as a finisher because we’ve got him anticipating the play and following up.

Our old destroyer, Fieldy, is now a box to box player creating his own chances and we found a gem in Kieron from the YTS group that was cutting the grass on Shepherds Bush green with scissors.

Ronnie Edwards can actually play and looks much better when I select him in the correct position, ideally between two experienced centre backs.

We’ve got two cheese eating surrender monkeys that now fight, stop goals and prevent attacks and Harold Lloyd’s brother who is so unpredictable, not even he knows what could happen next.

Crikey, we can even beat the first man at corners and aren’t really reliant on Illy anymore, FFS !

We are the island of misfit toys – just don’t tell Christian we have changed his game model and adopted Martiball. He’s busy hiding all the contracts, fan groups and looking at stats so we can get away with it until the summer preseason tour I reckon.

Was that a cheeky little toe punt for the goal ? Not easy to see from some angles.

What was clear was the tracking of Illy, ensuring he was there if required and the knack of being in the right place at the right time seems to be quite natural to Rayan.

Refreshing, especially when compared with Master Dykes and his ability to magnetically repel himself from where the ball might end up eventually.

Smyth - MotM Video

Just to break the Varane monopoly….

There’s a great, personal highlights package on the QPR FC WhatsApp channel of Smyth’s contributions against Watford.

You don’t get to see his bra and there’s no gymnastics but there’s plenty of skill, attitude and effort on show. Mix that with some humour on the Watford assist in his post match interview, he’s been great value recently.

QPR - WhatsApp

I’m not sure if this has been posted before but there’s some good content posted on the QPR WA channel, including some alternative angle videos of goals set to festive choons.

‎Follow the QPR FC channel on WhatsApp: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaTDD8d1noz03XpqEE0e

Hopefully the link works but if not, I think you can simply open WA and search for QPR FC under channels.

Amongst the latest posts are Jimmy’s and Rayan’s goals from the weekend.
