Yes I’ve seen Beyond The Infinite 2 Minutes & I really liked that too. Didn’t realise until after that River was made by the same writer and director. Talking of really enjoyable Japanese films, I really liked Fish Story. |

Sleep cannot hide thoughts splitting through my mind Shadows aren't clean, false mirrors too many people awake If you stand up like a nail then you will be knocked down I've been too honest with myself I should have lied like everybody else (Faster, Manic Street Preachers) |

Not a moment too soon as we blue the moon And a wolf begins to howl in tune I announced for all mankind A boon Stand aside you big baboon Now I'm the a prize invention, girl You're the image of yourself Forget your cares Your disapproving stares I'm not here to try to jump your borders Just ask your nieces and daughters I'm flat as sole, I'm happy as a clam But they don't know the kind of man I am Little fish swimming in a jealous shoal Now my net is overflowing And I suddenly seem to be all seeing and all knowing I've got something right there You might want to hear I have no fear Lend a hand Lend an ear If your rent-money is in arrears We'll be striking up a symphony bandstand Long of hair and loose of tooth There'll be pirouettes and startling handstands And who but acrobats know how to tell the truth When all is said that then redundant They gallivant in peg-leg pants I'll be your servant You'll be my pal And I'll be faithful you know I shall There's no fool like an old fool Who blames it all upon his youth When times are tough and you find you're down Without a star to wish upon Listen for a voice in the dark (A Voice In The Dark, Elvis Costello) |

Aliens have landed I don’t know what they’ve demanded but the Earth will never be the same again They said: “Take us to your leader,” you know, the usual procedure They demolished all our barricades and then I woke up and the world was just the same as it was yesterday We broke up but I still call your name, like I do every day And, in the not-so-distant future, the world’s run by a computer that takes care of every single thing we need but, if you’ve seen any movie, you’ll know things never go smoothly and we’ll face a huge disaster, guaranteed And then I woke up and the world was just the same as it was yesterday We broke up but I still call your name, like I do every day And I’d do anything, anything, anything, anything to stop myself from thinking about you And I really need to shake off this addiction but, instead, I’m sat here watching science fiction I took this retro spaceship for an interstellar day trip and I went as fast as Einstein would allow It belongs to some mad scientist; I don’t know how he acquired it but a time machine would suit me better now So I could wake up and have the world be just the same as it was yesterday We didn’t break up and you still call my name, you never went away And I’d do anything, anything, anything, anything to stop myself from thinking about you (Science Fiction by The Wedding Present) |

is this Narrow Boat the same pub that was called the Western Arms when I used to go there? (90s/early 2000s) |

West London LaLaLa was my user name on the old Rivals forum. Should’ve stuck with that name because now people on here occasionally think I am actually Peter Hucker. (I’m not) |

Get in contact with Dunstan, he’s @qprnyc on Twitter. He’ll tell you everything you need to know. They usually watch matches at Legends. That’s on West 33rd Street near the Empire State Building. I was over there for the Plymouth match in August, what a thoroughly lovely bunch the NY R/s fans are. |

I heard this conversation in a sandwich shop in Finchley about 25 years ago & it's stuck with me ever since. Bloke in front of me ordered his sandwich. and just before wrapping it the lady behind the counter said "Would you like me to cut it into 2 or 4?" Reply: "2 please. I couldn't eat 4." |

Very harsh on Terrell Forbes. He was a pretty solid defender. Not as good going forward but still a reliable fullback and pretty much ever present for our 3 seasons in League 1. Was voted player of the season in 1 of those years too, which I don't remember many having a problem with at the time. Significantly better player than Harrison Ashby has shown himself to be (so far at least) History will judge Forbes harshly because of the very unsavoury off-pitch stuff that led to his departure, but I remember him being a popular player up until the details of that started to emerge. |

You're right, but it was definitely sung more frequently than at a normal away game. And the first airing of it was pretty early in the game too. Predictable really. Telling people not to sing a particular song just makes some people want to sing it even more. |

this was supposed to be on 8th Feb, but Blackburn are in something called the 4th round of the FA Cup. So that game will need to be re-arranged for midweek. I guess the only upside to that is that it's fcked up Sky's plans for a 12:30 kickoff. |

I thought she looked a bit rough in the later scenes. 😆 best film I've seen recently was River (Japanese film with a time loop, very imaginative film) I also really liked The Wailing (Korean horror film) if you're a Bruce Springsteen fan, the Road Diary documentary on Disney+ is brilliant. recently watched Cocaine Bear which has just appeared on Netflix. Hmmm. I like daft horror stuff but this was just *too* daft. Like Snakes On A Plan and Sharknado, the title is more entertaining than the actual film. |

Lots of snow and ice around this week, more on the way overnight & tomorrow. And I keep seeing stuff on the news about flooding in the Midlands, some of it in Leicestershire. The match on Saturday isn't going to get called off, is it? Any local knowledge out there? |

Best in person, probably the Oldham semi-final. That was definitely the loudest I've ever heard it at Loftus Road. Not just when the goal went in, but before the match and everything. Another one that always sticks in the mind, the last game of the season 6-0 against Palace to stay up. The biggest piss-up W12 has ever seen. Starting from the British Queen, then the Coningham, the Queen Adelaide, a few more until we ended up in Swakeleys. We kept having to move from pub to pub because they were running out of beer. We have a lot of stories from that day! Best one on telly, hmm can't think of that many good ones. Probably the 4-1 v Man U Dennis Bailey Hallelujah!! Worst ones that I've been there in person, the Milk Cup final certainly. But whilst it was annoying at the time I was only 15 and I was less upset than on my previous time seeing QPR at Wembley (FA Cup replay v Spurs). At the time QPR were a very good team and I naively thought I'd see us play in several other cup finals. So many terrible and infuriating matches I've been to, both at home & especially away. That Huddersfield away match which confirmed our relegation in 2001 probably the most miserable I've felt at and after a match. One that springs to mind for worst TV game was losing 4-0 to Swansea in the FA Cup first round. Also there was a TV game against Liverpool in the Premier League when that cúnt Redknapp was our manager. We were at home and they beat us comfortably. Suarez scored a hat-trick I think. We looked a trillion miles away from being able to compete at that level. And that's because we were. Those 3 seasons we had in the Premier League in the 2000s were some of the most misery-packed times in all my years supporting this club. Totally made me fall out of love with the Premier League, I got out of the habit of watching Match of the Day during those seasons and I've never got back into it. |

Had 3 weeks in New Zealand in August 2024 with the wife & my kids aged 14 & 11. We have family & friends near Christchurch & also near Auckland so we went to both south & north islands. Given it was winter and some of the adventure sports stuff was closed, I think we had just the right amount of time in Rotorua (3 full days) None of my family are really city people so we thought a day spent in each was plenty in Christchurch and Auckland. That left more time for the more scenic places and there are oh so many of those. Everywhere else we went, we just wished we had longer there to explore!! 3 weeks sounds like a long time but I feel like we only just scraped the surface of New Zealand. I'll just copy & paste this list that I wrote on the plane home.
