| News Comment | Southampton Summer Signings The Initial Verdict at 09:11:33
Disagree about B-D and Archer, both look ineffective still leaving us without a reliable goal scorer (although I guess Tyler might be our savior there). SR have really let us down there again. In fairness most of the others look really good signings, particularly Fernando's and Sugawara. |

I don’t think you are correct about the goal being unavoidable. What idiot told them not to leave anybody on the edge of the penalty area when there were three unmarked Ipswich players there. Mosey had all the time in the world, and even then needed a really lucky deflection. Certainly some good points, such as Ramsdale, Dibling, Fernandes and Lallana, but I do worry where are goals are going to come from. Arma looks pale shadow himself last season, Archer has missed a number of opportunities and Stuart is either not fully fit or overhyped. Also hope that when he is fit Sulemana is given an opportunity rather than continuing to play Brereton Diaz on the wing. In fact, it might be worth giving Sam Amo-Ayew a chance until then. |

Best thing about the game apart from Tyler is that Martin will be forced to drop Stephens for the next three games. We can only hope that he learns his lesson and appoints a new captain for the remainder of the season. I think you're a bit harsh on some of the other players particularly sigawara who for the big first 30 minutes or so we're excellent other than that I agree entirely Nick. By the way type Sports Republic get your act together and sign up Tyler Dibling for the longest period possible. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Brentford The Damning Verdict at 11:05:22
I agree with a lot of these comments, particularly David and WSS. Jack Stephens was again the commen denominator in the major cock ups, when will Martin grow a pair and realise the captain needs to be changed a d Jack dropped. Similarly his attitude to Tyler beggars belief. If he really can't last 90 minutes, which I doubt, start him before we go a goal down. He is a major major talent at this rate he will be sold for a relative pittance (like Alcaraz) before we see the best of him. My view is that JB and THB are a perfectly good centre back partnership if we play sensibly and clear the ball when appropriate, I also think ABK would be good with either of them. KWP may well be better on the other side but Sugawra has been our best player by some margin. Perhaps move him into midfield (or even play him a striker given that he at least knows where the goal is - joking). So Martin, drop Stephens, make Flynn Downes captain play Fernandes and Dibling, tell your defenders to clear the ball when appropriate. Six points needed against Ipswich and Everton or time to go, is Potter still available. |

If the rumour is the true that is a pathetic fee for Alcaraz who we so sorely need at the moment. If correct Sports Republic clearly do not know what they are doing |

Utterly pathetic, no chances created, no Alcaraz on the bench and it looks like he's played his last game for us. The game was screaming out the him to be brought on to run at their defence but oh no Russell Martin knows best. Agree it is very difficult to see whether next goal is coming from let alone having any hope of surviving in this league. Sam Amo-Ayew should play instead of the completely ineffective Edozi when necessary and why Tyler Dibling was only given 10 minutes at the end beggars belief given our inability to create any decent chances. Last season at the end we were lucky to scrape promotion but unless we get some proper creative players onto the field and a decent striker we are going straight back down. |
| News Comment | Southampton Nearing Cash Plus Player Transfer Deal at 11:18:58
Only need to look at the difference that he made coming on at Newcastle to see this is a dumb decision. It is decisions like this that continue to sadly make me continue to doubt Russell Martin. I really want Martin to work out well but, given our dearth of creativity in the final third since Stu was allowed to leave, this seems extremely stupid if true. Yes we need a goalkeeper badly but do we really need all the defenders and midfielders we have bought in this window ? |
| News Comment | Southampton At Newcastle United The Verdict at 09:00:30
The manager was at fault for this loss because 1. He continues to pick an unsuitable goalie for this style of play 2. He gave our most creative player, Alcaraz only about 10 minutes at the end 3. He substituted our best player in the first half, Sugawara, for the ineffective Edozie (Amo-Ayew) was far more incisive when he came on So three points we can ill afford thrown away. Better news is that even before the sending off we were outplaying Newcastle at home, if we had not gifted them a goal we would surely have got a result. So play your best players instead of your favourites Martin. Also must keep Alcaraz, Walker-Peters. |
