Wow what a performance. If that is our new possession based fast attacking football give me more. Absolutely the most enjoyable match I watched at the COA in many a season. All the players were excellent and it is hard to single them out however so pleased Ferguson concentrated on his defending as he looked solid. Beckwith oozes class and East ran the show. What a first match for Sir Peter to witness. Fingers crossed it continues. Well done to Jim he really deserves credit. |

Very interesting article from someone who clearly has an in depth knowledge of the league. His predictions however leave a lot to be desired. Last season his predictions using his terminology were as follows; Correct 3 Badly wrong 8 Wrong 5 Close 4 Right ball park 4 This season he predicts Rochdale to finish lower mid table and that McNulty will be sacked. Lets hope he is way off the mark again. |

Good to see some stability and our better players committing themselves to the club. |

I think the book illustrates the numerous problems the Club faced last year. Reading between the lines I suspect there were many more that Chris was not allowed to write about. Supporters should allow a little more time for the new board to put everything in order, there is certainly lots to be done. The main positive is that we know that there is lots being done behind the scenes with the Ogdens backing. As for Jim he certainly has more chance of providing the fans with a better football experience than we had to endure last season. As with everything time will tell. |

I have just finished the book and certainly would recommend it. McNulty had so many issues to deal with that were not highlighted to supporters during the season. Our finishing place on reflection was good. The lack of players meant Mitchell played for a period of time with 2 broken ribs during which time he received unfair criticism. Also the players were left stranded at a motorway service station for a period of time as the bus company withdrew the bus as the bill hadn't been paid. There are other examples but my opinion of Big Jim certainly went up after reading the book. |

Wonder why we had a trialist goalkeeper. Has something happened to the keeper from Wrexham? |

Also another signing from a southern based team. I think that is 4 if you count the lad from Notts County. Cannot remember when this has happened before. |
| Forum Reply | George Nevett to Peterborough at 08:46 18 Jun 2024
Lots of reporting that the deal will be concluded today. Peterborough have an excellent track record of buying well and selling players on for a large profit. Their Chairman certainly is no mug and plays hardball when negotiating. I doubt if the figure will be as high as we may have hoped but hopefully we have agreed good sell on clauses. Football wise it seems a good move for Nevitt going to the higher reaches of the First division. Potentially he will make the first team or bench sooner than if he had gone to a team higher in the pyramid. |

Big Jim gets plenty of criticism on this forum and maybe in some cases it is justified. However he has to get a lot of praise for the development of Nevitt and also having the courage to play him in the first place. Personally if we get a sum in the region of £500,000 I think we will have done well. Obviously the add on clauses are where potentially the real money could be made. |

Just pre ordered the book on Amazon. They have it on sale for a maximum price guarantee of £14.69 including delivery. Appears to be sold by various channels for different prices. As someone who is not in the know about behind the scenes issues I am looking forward to hearing what Chris has to say. I have all the books by Mark Hodkinson and hope this new one matches up. |

Excellent signing in my opinion. Solid experienced defender and good in the air. I think he looked after Nevitt last year and needs to take a bit of credit for the young lads progression. Agree that he is not entirely comfortable on the ball but overall pleasing to see him sign a new contract. |

With regard to the training ground is the funding to come from a separate pot provided by the Ogdens or will it come from the £2 million invested already?. |

I am an exile as well and also didn't much enjoy the style of football last season. However I think there is a lot more expectation this coming season and believe we should get behind the club as a whole. We have had a few dark years and are lucky to have found the investors who are backing the club. We need everyone to continue buying their season cards and also encourage others to do so. For me the coming season will go a long way to defining our future, Perhaps I may be well off the mark but we have to believe the good times are near. This is what being a Rochdale fan for over 50 years does to you. Its the hope that will kill you!!! |

Does anyone know how the season ticket sales are going? The only update I saw was on Monday advising just over 150 had been sold. In view of the recent good news regarding the Ogden investment I expected that there would be a positive response from fans. |

i am a member as well as my wife. We are not on auto renewal but neither of us have received anything about subscriptions etc. Is it time to renew and if yes what is the easiest way to do this?. Would hate to think the Trust are losing members and donations because communication is not being received. |

I see that Carlisle have released Thomas Holy. Very surprised to read he was 3rd choice with them. Would be a great signing for us. A six foot nine inch goalkeeper that dominates the box and is good with his feet. Always thought he put fear into strikers with his physical presence. |

On his day Sinclair would be a valuable asset to the team. He started off the season on fire however this didn't last for long enough. I suppose his consistent inconsistency is the reason his career is in the lower reaches of the football pyramid. It is probably likely that he will shine for a period of time at another club. Just like Campbell and Newby are doing at Solihull and Altrincham. However on balance it is probably the right decision to let him go. |

I am also in the camp that we should retain both EEL and Rodney. At this level EEL is as good or not better than the majority of centre halves. Rodney since his return has made a hell of a difference to our attacking threat. He is strong, quick and packs a powerful shot. If he remains fit for a full season he would easily get 20 plus goals. Obviously though none of know what offers they may have had elsewhere or what their wage demands are. Time will tell. |
