Support a local International.

As you know the Lacrosse club share their pitches with Dale as a training facility, one of their players has been selected to represent England in the coming European Championships.
Below is a press release for anyone who is interested to share or if you would like to make a small donation.
Glenn is a top lad and known for having one of the hardest shots in England (which I have learnt to my detriment), the Reg Jenkins of the England Lacrosse team!

Local Lad’s Fund Their Way to Gold!
The England football team will not be the only English team in with a chance of European silverware this summer. The England Men’s National Lacrosse Team will travel to Budapest, Hungary this summer to compete in the 2016 ELF European Lacrosse Championships. Unlike their football counterparts England’s lacrosse team are the reining European champions and are favourites to lift the coveted trophy again, despite facing still competition from 24 other nations. The team has strong connections with Greater Manchester with 16 of the 28-man roster hailing from the area. Glenn Humphreys from Rochdale Lacrosse Club is one of those players. Glenn will be representing the area in England’s title defence this summer. Glenn who hails from Bamford has been playing lacrosse since the age of 6 and still plays at his local club Rochdale. Despite being of the best players in the country Glenn will have to pay over £4000 to represent his country, as the sport of lacrosse receives no financial support. Glenn Comments: “I’ve been fortunate enough to represent England a number of times since 2008. The balance of working a full time job and training like a professional athlete can prove challenging but every time I pull on the England jersey it makes all the hard work and financial investment worthwhile!” The team is currently training hard in preparation for their title defence, with many of the players balancing full time work or studying with being top-level elite athletes. England will begin their title defence against four-time finalists Germany at the Szent István University Stadium on July 28.

England will then play Latvia, the Czech Republic, hosts Hungary and Italy with the final taking place on August 6.

To take the pressure off the talented squads, England Lacrosse has launched supporters clubs to raise much-needed lacrosse funding for the European Championship players. Give them the best chance of victory by supporting England Men’s Lacrosse Team today. https://www.pledgesports.org/projects/england-mens-lacrosse-team-2016-european-l Find out more about Team England by visiting: www.englishlacrosse.co.uk/team-england #TeamEngland

Dear Mr Dunphy
at 14:48 22 Jan 2013

Thankyou!
Sacking people isn't easy and I am sure you will have lost a great deal of sleep running up to this decision but remember its better to make a decision and be wrong than not make one. I hope the weight is now lifted and everyone can look forward to a return to our traditional values and some exciting days at Spotland.

I hope the criticism I and others on here have aimed at you and other board members is taken in the spirit it was offered, it was never intended to be malicious simply a huge frustration with the direction we had taken.

Personally I would have taken almost anyone in preference to the last management team, bringing back Keith Hill may or may not be a master stroke, time will tell, but if his return has required a portion of humble pie on either side, I for one am hugely thankful that someone took the first bite.

Thank you again and good luck to all concerned for the remainder of the season.

Oh and Happy New Year (at last)

Might as well add my thoughts.
at 23:45 15 Dec 2012

I decided to go for bullet points.

For me, Coleman has many of the qualities that Keith Hill and Steve Eyre lacked.
- He understands that you cant play with a team all under 6 foot (at least in this league)
- He signed players with grit who are hard to bully. (even if that means a few cards)
- His players don't mind having a dig from far out and will take opportunities.

But sadly he lacks many of the qualities that Hill and Eyre both had.
- Faith in wingers, possibly his biggest flaw because they are vital not just on a pitch this wide, but in the game full stop!
- The will to play attractive passing football. (That's how we got promoted last time)
- A positive and professional attitude
- Extensive use of Sport science

Mr Coleman has made several mistakes!
- He fell out with Gary Jones
- He sold or released players that would have been better than some of the replacements.
- He managed his relationship with the fans poorly

He was unfortunate when, we lost Reece Gray to injury, based on pre-season he could have played a big role.

That's about all I have, not sure If I'm "Coleman Out" yet, but I'm certainly interested to hear the alternatives.

Deja Vu
at 15:25 22 Aug 2011

About four years ago I had this dream that we would do a player exchange with another team, the player we exchanged would be a tall black player who wasn't cutting the mustard. Just read the thread about Delroy Facey and was struck with Deja Vu, so either Trotman is going to the Bulls or I'm completely mental.

Keith Hill is not the Messiah
at 14:27 1 Jun 2011

I am!
Yes it's time i told you all, the source of our success over the last 4 1/2 years has not been the excellent managing of Keith and Flickers. No my friends, the common denominator is in fact, ME.
I have always followed Rochdale, but I only started coming to matches religiously when Hilly took over, I went to 10 home matches in a row and we won all 10 of them, that's the year we got to wembley. Since then I have been to near enough every home game.
So do not fret my Daleish chums, for I am still here!
