Gorllewin Abertawe Gŵyr on 11:29 - Dec 24 by Kilkennyjack | Its not. The languages do enjoy equal status in public sector bodies when dealing with citizens. But in areas not dealing with citizens … then its a choice. Currently, private companies can decide themselves what kind of Welsh language services such as signage and translation services they can offer. There really should be language standards for national private bodies, such as banks which operate on a national level in Wales. Some companies such as Lidl provide equal Welsh and English signage in stores, with announcements being made in Welsh before English. However, this is not the standard in the private sector. Water, energy and bus companies are not obliged to provide services in Welsh. But i welcome your support for true language parity. |
It is but I'll leave that with you to ponder on . | |
