Chelsea West Ham Arsenal Spurs well they got loads money are always going to be competitive
But clubs like Palace Fulham Brentford Luton all had Premier league experience, three of these four seemingly established top division clubs now.
And then even as we speak clubs such as Millwall and Watford currently presiding In the Championships top six.
Only really Charlton and Leyton Orient below us and Orient are traditionally a small time club.
So it's only Charlton that under performed ourselves and that could possibly change too.
This last decade has been awful.
I think it's time for all involved to really consider their association with our club so am talking about all.
Appreciate we are tough sell but am guessing there will always be the odd billionaire that wants to massage their ego and the fact we are a London club and with the knowledge that almost all London clubs have improved and stabilised at higher levels would initiate interest.
Think it is time for a complete clean sweep and let's use this as the start of a new era.
This recent history needs to be quickly placed in the dustbin of history.
A new regime throughout is required
So we have little invested in the recent dismal past.
People have told us that no one will buy us and we should be grateful for having our current owners for years.
This despite clubs like Wrexham and even possibly Tranmere attracting investment these days.
What we need are some ultras to tell the owners some home truths. What we'd get are a few fans going for lunch with them at the training ground and coming out of it singing their praises.

The reason why the likes of Wrexham and Tranmere can attract investment is because the Profit and Sustainability Regulations allow for more club losses in the divisions below The Championship. This is why Birmingham recently spent a lot of money.
Anybody investing in QPR at the moment would be helping Ruben cover his losses, hardly an attractive proposition. This is why I suggested that a relegation might actually help the club in the long term because in League 1 we are a better proposition for investors in that they would see something positive happening with their money rather than simply covering losses.
Don't get me wrong the last thing I want to see is my club being relegated but there might be a silver lining should the worst happen.
Of course, any new investors would have to be more football savvy than our current owners. To think when Fernandes took over and brought along Lakshmi Mittal with him, we were the richest club in the land and with a more sensible approach we could have become an established Premier League club. Football has moved on so much in the past twelve years that if we got promoted now we would be in the bottom half of the table when it came to wealth.

Forget about Chelsea, West Ham,Arsenal, Spurs and even Palace, Brentford and Fulham. This looks like it could be the year that Wycombe change positions with us and disappear over the horizon. The management of this club since the Warnock promotion has been a sick joke at the expense of the fans.

When I started supporting this godforsaken club, I used to think West Ham were similar to us, sort of our east London equivalents.
God knows who we’re similar to now, St Trinians’s third XI ?
This. To me, it was Spurs/Arsenal in the North, Rangers in the West, West Ham in the East. And all the others floating around. Remember that from the mid70s to the mid90s, Fulham, Brentford, Palace (give or take), Reading, Charlton were pretty much nowhere whilst Luton and Watford weren't established in the top flight for that long.
I know our club has made many mistakes in recent times, but we really need 2 or 3 of those to fail a bit now as was the case before. Really unlucky that everyone in our vicinity (Fakes excepted) has their house relatively in order.

I'm not desperatley trawling for anything. Just that if you're going to include all League clubs geographically in and around London then a few were missed off the OP.

We had a golden age from the early 1970s through to the mid 1990s, but even that was tinged with Division 2 football for a few years. In a way talk to anybody of a certain age about QPR and all they probably mention is Stan Bowles and Rodney Marsh. We have not been a force in London football since we left the Premier League in 1996, even with the couple of seasons we returned back in 2011. Our position in West London football is probably more worrying, let's face it Chelsea are in a different stratosphere, Fulham have remained stable although boring they attract a certain dynamic and Brentford have just taken off in the last 10 years with owners and supporters on the same level, they have been pretty impressive.To be honest I can't see us progressing while we stay at Loftus Road in a stadium on its uppers and owners who just don't know what to do with the club. Unless a big move further west takes place I think the slide will continue as the fan base gets older and the team just sinks further into mediocrity.

As someone who started supporting Rangers in the 70s, I always thought of Arsenal & Spurs as London's 'Big 2.' I grudgingly accepted that Chelsea and WHU were next in line - but they never felt that far ahead of us. Palace I thought of as just behind us. The rest I saw as also rans.
As has been well documented, we fell off the gravy train at just the wrong time, as the big money poured in - then fkd up big time when we finally got another bite of the cherry.
We may not like it, but it can't be denied that Chelsea have barged their way onto top table in characteristically classless style; so that makes it a Big 3.
Clearly WHU are now fourth - but as they have shown they can still flirt with relegation, if I was a Hammer, I wouldn't take that as a given.
However, much as others have overtaken us for now, the likes of Fulham, Brentford and Palace are only one bad season / dodgy managerial appointment / key player sale away from relegation - and even with parachute money, none are guaranteed an instant return. Much bigger clubs have dropped into League One.
So I do retain hope that in my lifetime I may again see us swap places with Fulham & Brentford - but equally am aware that just now, swapping with Charlton is more likely.
For what it's worth...worries about 'losing a generation of fans' seem unfounded. Home crowds are ridiculously good all things considered, as is the away following - and in both cases, regularly surpass the figures we had in way more successful eras. The age range is also very encouraging too - not just a bunch of boomers.
Since my first game in 94/95 season it has quite literally been 30 years of steady painful decline, with a few bright spots of upward momentum on the way. Back then, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham might’ve had bigger budgets and histories, but on the pitch we were competitive. Fulham and Brentford.. not even on the radar. As for Millwall, Watford Charlton they were bottom-feeding plankton.
WHU were more kind of our level but we had the beating of them, and Palace who were yo-yo-ing were below our level at the time.
Palace is an interesting and frustrating one in comparison. Relegated from Prem late 90's like us, a quick 1 season return mid 2000s and then steady decline to almost dropping into L1 when we nab Warnock and rise up. Then, out of nowhere, they scraped into the Prem through the playoffs under Holloway - and have stayed there for 12 years.
