Rest of the Championship thread 11:07 - Aug 10 with 181868 views | Hunterhoop | Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc? For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te? Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull. Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

Think it’s a decent risk to take for this season and they’ve got a kind run. Away to Sheff U and Sunderland at the end but a fair chance those teams have nothing to play for by then and are just waiting for the playoffs. Chances are though they’re in this division next season and can’t see it working long term but if you say they have a 40% chance of playoffs and then a 20% chance of winning those playoffs it’s a punt worth taking for the short term impact it might have.

Yeah I think it’s going to be a much more normal points total to be safe this year. Reckon about where we are will be enough. Get the sentiment for stoke being lucky to stay up, but do you really see the current bottom 3 getting anymore than 40ish points? Plymouth maybe, but Luton and Derby are getting worse not better - they need a Rohl/Marti style surge and the evidence does not suggest that’s gonna happen based on what we’ve seen so far. For context, we had 35 points after 34 games last year, and SW had 32. The improvement was there for all to see. Luton/Derby/Plymouth, 28/29/30. Bleak.

Well, they're the only team we've done the double over. That's how bad they are.

It's quite incredible. Doughty was an outside shout for the England squad last season! Just let him whip balls in for their myriad of strikers great and tall

Since the start of the 2023/2024 season they’ve played 72 games and accumulated 54 points at 0.75ppg. If they weren’t such a horrible club I’d almost feel sorry for them. [Post edited 26 Feb 17:32]

Rest of the Championship thread on 20:00 - Feb 25 by queensparker | His glory period at Barnsley coincided with the Covid rules where you could make loads of subs, and he replaced tons of people through the match after they all ran themselves into the ground for 50 min spells I thought it was pretty impressive to watch tbh, proper 80s Wimbledon, but I can’t see it going down well at Blackburn |
Yeh but those are the sub rules that are still in place.

It’s felt for a while now the current bottom 3 are gone. Don’t want to count any chickens just yet, but I think had last years Huddersfield been around this year (45 from 46) they’d stay up. 3 truly awful teams in an especially crap league this season.

Yeah real shame that it's unlikely one of Cardiff or Stoke aren't going to get sucked in. Can we still lose enough games to make it interesting for us?
