Trump is an idiot, and no more knowledgeable about history as he is about anything else, but no policeman was murdred on January 6th.

I stand to be corrected but says here 5 killed including an officer:

https://amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/08/capitol-attack-police-officer-fi

Re Trump being an idiot, am not so sure.

In intellectual terms, clearly you are right.

Emotionally even more so - he has the “me,me,me” neediness of a slow-to-develop 5-year-old.

But campaigning wise he has an instinctive brilliance (sadly from my perspective) and I’m sure he will leverage this to get elected - arguably if the assassin was trying to get Trump out of the White House he has almost certainly achieved the exact opposite and made his election almost inevitable.

Of course it’s much easier to campaign if you offer simplistic solutions, disregard the truth and demonise opponents.

Democrats fcked aren’t they.

They’ve relied on creating caricatures of Trump and his supporters rather than create a positive alternative. Can’t do that when the target has been shot in the nut.

Liberalism, as ever, the midwife to fascism.

Can you show me anything in the "MSM" where it has been suggested that this was staged?

My point was that extreme leftists like you have been manipulated by the MSM into thinking that attempting to assassinate the likely next President of the US is somehow justifiable

The cover of the New Republic from this month being used to program that tricking those incapable of critical thinking that this was somehow justifiable or even a conspiracy itself

You've lost your head and you don't even know it

Imagine over here what the BBC or C4 would be doing if Trumps son had a laptop like Hunter Biden did and 51 Secret Service agents signed a letter knowing they were lying saying that it was fake news in the midst of a very close election. That was an attack on Democracy

And it's those same people who are motivated to interfere with Democracy again.

It's more than 40 years since there has been an attempt on a US Presidents life so those suggesting this isn't uncommon or is similar to Ames and Jo Cox are just ignorant

Democrats are done for, sadly have to agree.

But very harsh to say liberalism the midwife to fascism.

If a socialist like Sanders had stood against Trump last time, Trump would have won comfortably (it was incredibly close last time).

If politics is the art of the possible, Biden has surprised most people (including on the left) and achieved far more than most predicted.

But the devil has the best tunes and it very much looks like the devil has won - with huge consequences for Ukraine, global security, the poor, non-white people and the unity of America

The only person murdered on J6 was Ashley Babbot.

You are so lacking knowledge on this topic but still have the false confidence to make statements on it, and hilariously trot out left wing conspiracy theories

You miss out the now proven part that Trumps tweets specifically telling people not to go into the Capitol and to act peacefully were censored

You miss out that Nancy Pelosi rejected support from the National Guard to prevent entry.

You miss out that Federal agents were in the crowd trying to instigate it

Explain to me the eventual reluctant soft sentence of 12 months suspended so no jail time for Ray Epps

But 9 years for Matthew Perna who later committed suicide in prison who simply calmly walked through an open door.

You've been lied to and you don't even know it, even on a day like today. Luckily Trump survived and may yet save the West from its current trajectory

Sadly though, I think they will have to escalate the Ukraine situation to move attention elsewhere and allow them to manipulate and manouvere themselves into power

I wouldn't put it past Trump to have arranged it just for this sort of reaction. 20 year old shooter is dead, that's the loose end tied up. it reeks of fake news. Rabble rousing, inflammatory speeches, win at any cost.

You’ve always struck me as an intelligent decent chap. I don’t understand why you would give this theory any credence. We had some saying the London Bridges attacks were staged too. Whatever political persuasion you are, when something’s wrong, call it out as wrong. We’ve all got to dothat surely, otherwise there is no hope for us.

It’s a well quoted phrase and justified.

Liberals always punch left then let in the right. Examples as long as your arm. Starmer the latest.

Even now people calling him (Trump) intellectually stupid because deep down, they can’t challenge him on his ideas.

And the latest "conspiracy theory" is the CIA deliberately delayed shooting the sniper off the roof was to let him take out Trump. The security services had him in their sights for 40 seconds or more apparently.

Look I live here and a dictatorship/facist isn’t that far away. It’s in the DNA a bit. If you think that’s a good thing so be it. The ones who might like it will only think about it when they are vorbotten from doing something they want to do.

A lot of insecure and frightened people being taken advantage of by a lot of nasty people. Sound familiar. Jawohl

It’s like Gravity.

You explain it, you demonstrate it and then they say they never saw it, it didn’t happen.

Some of the things being said by people on here it’s quite troubling. Watch, while you’re still allowed to 😃the PBS series on USA and the holocaust for some perspective at least.

Delicious irony that you say that people say about Starmer, "people calling him intellectually stupid because deep down, they can’t challenge him on his ideas"

(Which I would be happy to do, if I knew what they were)

Social media has absolutely ruined people.
It’s quite clear it’s not staged. There was a member of the public being interviewed covered in the brain matter of someone who got hit in the crowd and there is also a picture of the shooter all messed up after the snipers took him out.
It’s absolutely bizarre that so many people now look for a conspiracy in everything.
People forget this is America where regular people can buy rifles and a lot of time these regular people are complete nutters.

I agree with this although conspiracy theories have always been around it’s indisputable that social media has turbocharged them. However one man has personally profited from pedalling conspiracy theories and ‘alternative truths’ more than anyone in the history of the western world ,and that is Donald Trump. He has created a monster, well actually 70 odd million of them in the US alone, and it was only a matter of time before one turned on him. In this case it seems to be a 20 year old registered Republican.
America’s access to guns obviously only exacerbates the problem and cannot be contained while you have the NRA funded Republican Party so corrupt and morally bankrupt that they use mass shootings in schools as a way to promote selling and arming Americans with ever more deadly weapons.
The world is a very depressing place right now and it will only get worse and far more dangerous when the orange grifter gets back in to power.

I don’t believe that. There’s a minority of sick, deluded people out there. The majority of people are not like that and are decent people. The problem is that minority are very vocal and go on social media because of its anonymity.

Am familiar with the phrase and the left wing argument Baz, I just don't agree with it.

Traditionally America, compared to most other Western countries, has been a very right wing society with values like rugged individualism respected over more left-leaning ideas such as community.

Biden was about as left-wing as a serious president can get - and still very nearly lost to Trump last time.

In the western world we live in an age of growing right wing populism and think the centre and the left should stick together as much as possible in the face of this challenge/ threat - as happened in France.

As for some of the other comments on here from one or two other posters, I'm going to let them drift by to the wicket keeper...

Fair play. I had misunderstood in original form. Thanks for correcting

And Ranger Things. This kid has also Donated to Far Left Organisations

I worry that when you (Ranger Things) say Trump just works off “conspiracy Theories” when actually they are just his own opinion's

When you see the Mueller Report, the Hunter Biden laptop interfering in his election, lawfare with the Fani Williams up to creating a law to prosecute him. And today being shot, after the nearest roof to him was left unguarded and the police and Services ignored witnesses for a period of 3 mins as he “bear crawled” with a rifle over to shoot him.

You could probably forgive Trump for being a little sceptical

They are calling it the Iwo Jima 1945 moment again this morning on tv. Trump did the right thing letting everybody know he was ok the tension and fear was high and he desfused it.A tip of the cap to the people attending no panic or stampeding just ducking until safe to move .
Love him (4 posters )or hate him (12 and counting ) there is no denying Trump has survived a horrible death live in color by a few mm and there is more questions than answere .
The shooter was under 400 yards away in plain sight ready to take the kill shot and was spotted and reported by eye witnesses yet he was able to unload 6 or 7 rounds striking bodies until he was killed by a head shot.
If he was in the Secret Service sights why was he allowed to open fire ?
A regular secure perimiter is always well outside the range even an experienced sniper /assasain could unload a lethal load and always the high ground is covered like a blanket with drones etc.
As I mentioned last night regardless if Trump or Biden tone down the agressive rethoric or not its the best outcome DT is alive and kicking today and not in a morgue .Nobody could predict exactly what would happen but it would be ugly.
Let the voters bring him down if they can not a speeding bullet
