Rail Seating for Saturday 14:17 - Aug 2 with 19715 viewsAberystwythR

Will the rail seating be ready for saturday? They have the whole loft down as sold out on the website which possibly suggests a couple of blocks are missing?

I'd be amazed if the rail seating is in place before October.

I think as is often the case it's poor communication. Someone must have known that there was a chance the work might not be done in time. Why was it left until a few days before the game to say anything?

I got a similar email but they haven’t removed the seats from the metal block that is ML,so we are unaffected and still liable to get soaked in the front row there.

Think you'll be OK for Saturday

As a new rail seat holder just be emailed to inform me it hasn't arrived.

The club is bitterly disappointed to inform supporters that rail seating will not be in place in the Lower Loft or R Block (Stanley Bowles Stand) ahead of our first home fixture of the season against Middlesbrough this weekend.

It had been our intention to install rail seating in both areas ahead of this game. It was communicated last week that it will not be in place in R Block and, sadly, due to ongoing supply issues, we are also unable to have rail seating in place in the Lower Loft for Saturday.

While this is completely out of our hands, everyone at the club is incredibly frustrated.

This latest delay means not only will we not have rail seating in place in the Lower Loft, we now have a situation where there is no seating in this area as works had started for their implementation.

As a result, the club is having to relocate supporters from this area for Saturday’s fixture.

As a season ticket holder in an affected Block, we are contacting you to inform you that your seat will be moved unfortunately. Season ticket holders will be moved to the best available seats in the Upper/Lower Loft. You will receive a digital ticket for the game by Friday. If you would prefer to sit in an alternative area within the stadium, please contact the Box Office who will be able to arrange this subject to availability by calling 020 8740 2613 or emailing boxoffice@qpr.co.uk.

QPR CEO Lee Hoos said: “I would firstly like to apologise to all affected fans.

“I have been left beyond frustrated by the challenges we have faced in the installation process of the rail seats, especially after receiving such positive feedback from supporters who are so keen to see them at Loftus Road.

“The rail seats left Turkey at the beginning of last month and there was no indication it would take this long to get them to England. It is a shame that on a day when we are celebrating opening the Stanley Bowles Stand, the atmosphere we were all looking forward to is not going to be what we had hoped. Let’s try to overcome this setback and get behind the team even more.”

Jon Darch, who as the operator of the Safe Standing Roadshow has been campaigning for safe standing for many years and now works part-time with QPR’s suppliers Ferco Seating, said: “I’ve campaigned for this for over 17 years and was delighted when Lee Hoos became one of the first club CEOs to publicly support the concept.

“It’s a huge shame that they won’t be in place for Saturday’s game. I’m sure fans in the Lower Loft and R Block of the Stanley Bowles Stand will soon be enjoying supporting the team from their rail seats, and will continue doing so for decades to come.”

Jane Shepherd, Managing Director of Ferco Seating, said: “As everyone in business, and even in our private lives from seeing gaps on some supermarket shelves, will know, getting goods from A to be B in a timely fashion has become much more difficult in recent months.

“Unfortunately, we’ve not been immune to those supply chain issues either. While we would dearly have liked all the rail seats to be in place and ready for use by now, those issues unfortunately mean that we’ve been beaten by the clock.”

We sincerely hope this issue will be resolved in the Lower Loft and R Block in time for our fixture with Blackpool on 16th August. However, as we are reliant on external suppliers, we cannot guarantee a date until we have the rail seats on site.

I’d be interested to know when the contract was placed with the contractor… hopefully not May this year when the story broke… that would have been extremely foolish!

I would also expect that there is a formal contract with Liquidated Damages to cover loss of earnings (assuming the contractor would sign up to these terms *if* the order was placed late).

Me personally, I'm just a bit gutted cos I left the paddocks, where I've sat for years because it's one of the few places a 6'2" man actually fits. Now I've been dumped at random in Upper Loft which I always avoid cos I physically struggle with all the seats up there. Really sucks

That's why I sit in the back row in the upper loft , I stand most of the match... so really we have had rail seating for years .

And that couldn't have begun the moment they decided rail seating was go...? Further, if there arent that many rail seating 'shops' to go to that should make procurement choices quicker not slower (although that would also have a counter effect of less middle men etc)

Dont disagree with your caveats, just think it seems a bit amatuerish to be in a situation where you're waiting for infrastructure to arrive the month the season kicks off when it ended 12 weeks prior. This is the sort of off the pitch stuff that erodes credit and fuels toxicity which generates the ridiculous reactions we see to other things, in my opinion!

Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, this is poor showing from the club. If ever a deadline was critical it was this - and non-movable - as we all knew when the new season was to start and potential first home game date way back. Sure, we are all aware of the logistics, supply chain and delivery challenges etc. which has effected many industries in last 24 months - but surely the club would have have received guarantees of delivery (and then installation) from the supplier - which happens to be in Turkey apparently. Begs the question - did they select the wrong supplier.....clearly they did as the Rail Seating is not installed. Will look strange/odd again on Saturday - and totally unfair on those who were due to be in those Rail Seats.

No rail seating installed for Saturday's match.
The rail seating left Turkey at the beginning of July?
Fark me! How's it coming, by camel?

Balloons.
I believe we're the world's number one manufacturer of balloons.
Perhaps, the club could give every disappointed fan a balloon to make up for it?

i work for a company who manufacture mass spectrometers in the UK... however virtually every off the shelf component within our units comes from abroad... mainly America, Germany and France.

I read an article on industrial economics during the Blair years and it said something along the lines of the only production that was on the increase in Britain was the making of sandwiches. Seriously … sandwiches … and the only reason cheaper options weren’t sourced abroad is because they’d go stale in transit.

We used to make shit in this country. Now we just make shit sandwiches.

Well Greg Wallace has made a living out of the goods we produce in the UK.

Currently on series 7 of 'Inside The Factory', so clearly we DO manufacture here!

I don't really like how they try to turn it against us. 'This is what we thought you wanted' or similar.

I voted yes to rail seating. I think. I'm not that bothered about standing or sitting myself.

I don’t go to LR anymore as I can’t fit in the seats

I’m not fat, just my thigh bones are 4 inches longer than the distance between the back of the seat and the front of the next one.

Agony trying to squeeze in, and annoying for those in front as my knees are about where their ears are

Then the safe standing would be perfect for you Jimmy. Or R Block generally where we stand up.

Which block is safe standing?

There always was a good bit of noise/singing coming out of R block
