The story goes that Sterling was on his moped (the fastest vehicle in London) and something happened with him and a cabbie resulting in Sterling falling off the bike, and the cabbie said that to him, to which Stirling replied ‘well yes actually’

I can remember as a young kid, we were at Chepstow races on a bank holiday Monday and about to leave to go home when the news came on the car radio that Moss had had a serious race crash. I recall sitting in the car for quite some time whilst my father listened to the news that was coming through. Stirling very nearly died that day, and I believe, never raced again.
Funny how some things stand out in your memory.
