I've seen a number of posts saying how crucial January is and that people expect new players to arrive. I wonder if those people might be disappointed though, based purely on Hill's history.

Off the top of my head I can only think of Perkins who Hill's signed permanently in the January window. I'm not counting COG as he was already here on loan. We've had a few notable loan signings such as Alfie, but other than that I can't think of any instances where Hill's been very active in this window. Obviously we could counter that by arguing that this is an unprecedented January for him as he's never been in trouble with us before, so it'll be interesting to see how it pans out.

How many players are people realistically expecting us to sign next month? And which positions?

Disclaimer: I've probably missed a load of players he's signed in January!

I'm guessing cost of travel etc, unless you have a teleportation device?

Wish it only cost me that !!!

My £48 is £30 in ticket costs, the rest in travel costs.

If you're thinking of going on the coach it's £29 per adult to travel and see the game.

An outrage? Don't be ridiculous

We all want to see some serious activity on the transfer front, but it's sport, not the front in a war zone

And mightn't be for want of trying. Suppose our targets don't want to come here, or clubs aren't interested in our cast-offs?

The deficiencies in the squad have been there to see for months. Keith Hill knows what we need. If he doesn’t then he really has lost he plot.

If we had anything about us we would have put the wheels in motion for targets weeks ago, funnily enough just like all the other clubs around us.

But obviously D_Alien you’re right as always and all the rest of us are wrong. You odious bore. I remember why I went to the trouble of ignoring you now.

And you can do so again, but let me repeat until you're bored silly - calling what might or might not happen in the transfer window "an outrage" is completely over the top

It's NOT about me being right or wrong, it's just about keeping a sense of perspective, including being clearly outraged at being told so

I don't see it as a crisis that we've not gone out and signed anyone yet. Realistically, with the next two fixtures being cup games, there's less urgency to draft someone in on what has been the first real day of the transfer window for us (club was shut yesterday) as more likely than not, the sort of player we'd be looking at will have been cup tied already.

Admittedly, if we head to Gillingham with no changes, it will be a concern, and if we head to Northampton with what we've got, it will most certainly be panic stations. But I'm confident that there will be changes (maybe not to the extent that we'd like) - and changes that have been targeted for a while.

It could worse, the BIFFOs have lost 5 loan players and an assistant manager!

Good job they won the league 3 weeks ago :-)

A little antagonistic D'Alien for half past two on a Wednesday afternoon on a football forum but I'll respond...

"Positive intent" is all about communication.

"Serious activity" can be a lot of bluster but very little actual positive steps.

I've no idea what intent our club has - they never tell me anything about what they are trying to do!

I've learnt today that from our OS that McNulty thinks that Kgosi is doing great in his position - that's the best we can muster.

Phrases like "we tried to sign...", "we missed out on..." are signs we are serious but no good but I'd like to hear something.

Other have said this (so apologies if I or Dale fans have thought about and posted about before) but where is the communication coming from the club?

That could be a chairman's statement, a piece of news - something or anything.

What was the last piece of positive intent expressed by the club in the market? The news at the moment is that we are selling a 14-year-old and that maybe, we will just about sign a cast off that no one wants.

Meanwhile, Paddy Madden and James Hanson are moving early in the window to clubs in our league. I'd call what Fleetwood and bury are attempting to do "positive intent".

Fans are (generally) becoming disenfranchised. When I see fans like Chaff saying how they expect relegation that should ring a massive alarm bell.

You're welcome to agree or disagree with me though. It' a football forum!

In fairness another windfall such as a million from united away will result in parking spaces being remarked, some of those blue things in the bogs, a dozen bics and security for the future of the club!!!!
