Should we have a deadline concerning Austin's transfer? 09:25 - Jul 24 with 14409 viewsPey

Comingback from a holliday i would have expected Austin would already been sold by now.
I don't know if we are in the position to put a deadline to his matter cause to me this has all the last years Remy business smell about it.
I think we should make a statement anyway that other teams have the chance till 1 august to put an offer in.
This whole affair is dragging on from the day we relegated and it is time we put an end to it.
We should not suffer that PL Teams fail to recognize what's Austin value and left with our only option to loan a player to replace him.

Hasn't he had an issue with his knees in the past ?

Maybe this has put some off the money being asked.

How much did we pay for him ?

Demba Ba is supposed to have dodgy knees yet goes from club to club, Remy has a hole in his heart yet clubs want to sign him, Van Nistelrooy had a terrible knee injury yet Man Utd bought him and the list goes on. It's not down to a past injury Charlie is as strong as an ox and has scored goals for fun. We have a rep of being a club that can't play hard ball, we need to put an end to that. When we were relegated the vultures all swooped in and thought great QPR have gone down there's an FFP fine on the way, they are also crap negotiators lets offer £7m. West Ham even tried to replicate what they had done before by offering a low fee and one of their rejects.

I've noticed that since the Sterling cash clubs have backed off with their derisory offers, they now know that we don't have to rely on their charity to buy a replacement. A deadline must be set and if Clubs don't meet our very reasonable valuation blame it on his agent. Clubs are awash with cash after the new Sky deal, what's £15m for a striker who everyone knows will get you 20 goals a season, I've seen average defenders go for more.

Sell Charlie and invest in a replacement striker?

Haven't we already done that with JET and Polter?

Of course they aren't as good as Austin but who is?

He'll go on deadline day. No drama's. My feeling is it will be Villa or West Ham.
If he doesn't,I'll eat my hat.

Strikers aren't the only route to success. Last season's Championship was full of them but before that Leicester, Cardiff and ourselves had Nugent and Helguson leading the line with low double figures.

I think potentially we have more goals from midfield in the team than anyone else. If we set the team up right and it all clicks it might not be unreasonable to think about double figures for Luongo and Chery for instance.

Come on mate he'd be off like a shot.

This thread reads like Loic Remy never happened!

What has not been tested yet is a top club coming in for Charlie at a lower offer. If it is close to deadline day and Scum or the like come in with a 10-12 million bid, I can well imagine Charlie wanting to go and the club reluctantly accepting it. I think they feel he has served the club well and wouldnt want to stand in his way if it was to a top club.

When CR was pushed on price, he was rather hesitant about reaffirming the 15 million price tag. One of the presenters even joked 14.5 to Manure.

I dont think it is just the club that rejected the Leicester bid. I believe Charlie would not want to have moved there either for another relegation scrap

I don't think Ramsey has much to do with the money side of player transactions, in or out. He's the coach, Ferdinand and Hoos will – or should – be the deal makers. That's probably why CR is hesitant to talk about finances.

Much as I think we should sell and move on, it's easy to understand the club's position when Hull have wangled £7m for Robbie Brady and they're talking about £12m+ for Jordan Rhodes.

1/ Someones got to stump up around 15m
2/ They need to be a top club
3/They got to pay 85 grand a week
4/Charlie and Bianca want to stay in London
5/ He will definitely not want to sit on the bench too often

Narrows the choices down a bit???

For the umpteenth bloody time the new Sky deal doesn't kick in until the 2016-17 season.

Well as the Saints are our new besties we can look forward to another loan deal when he returns to us next season, oh hold on, his contract runs out then..... Why do you just know if it is true and he is there that we will sell him for less tnan £10M plus the loan of a gaggle of midfielders?

Never knowingly understood

Whispers one of Wet Spams strikers (Valencia?) could be out for season and Carroll has, ahem ahem, an "Injury" which may keep him out till Christmas
So it's another potential destination

My Wet Spam friends tell me Porn Magnates are crapping themselves about relegation as they don't want the new stadium unveiled against some tinpot set up like Rotherham, Leeds or QPR

All good news to have bigger clubs sniffing and having a panic up as the season nears

If the club accept less than 15 mill then it really is same old same old
The price should be 15 mill MINIMUM

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

many of your posts wind me up, but for once you are making a post that doesnt. I am not sure the amount of money would be a problem if it didnt go to players heads at times. If you listen to likes of Steve Gallen, or any other senior pros/ ex players, it is the huge wealth that some youngsters receive that is the biggest problem.

Of course, it doesnt help that some players are not that bright and the huge wealth goes straight to their heads, or worse still, prepared to sit on a bench to be at a big club or for vastly improved wages.

In an ideal world, players are like our kids. They only want to play football and as much as possible, as was the case to Sterling when he was discovered. In all honesty, the move to Liverpool, though upsetting for us, was probably the best move for him and his 'footballing' career. Unfortunately, the money has not improved him as a person, it woul;d appear. If he really was moving because he wanted to win medals and competitions, as we are told all players want to do, then it is easy enough to understand the move to Man City, where he will stand a greater chance than at Liverpool. Yet, the huige sums involved and the less than perfect role model he is, suggests that money also played a big part.

Aside from the superstars, I do believe that the average player does not earn huge sums, particularly for a career that can end in an instant, through a poor tackle, be short as they dont make the grade, and at best is over by the time they are mid thirties

Do we decry the likes of Clint Hill, Jamie Mackie, Shaun Derry, Ryan Nelson et al earning big wages. Or even Charlie, who could and maybe should go for a big money? I know I cant. They ply their trade in a world that is prepared to offer them those riches .

Even the likes of Adel at his pomp. That season, IMO, he was worth the admission fee on his own. I watched the Rs live more often than in the previous 10, just to see him play. The vitriol aimed at him since has been down to his attitude as we demanded the same level of entertainment we had become accustomed to. At that point we then question how much he is being paid. It is that we look for value from their endeavour given the rewards they receive

QPR's problem is that we have, in recent years, been prepared to sign players, in their swan song, believing that they would perform in a way they once did as long as we rewarded them handsomely. Unfortunately, more than often not been the case. Then we angered by the ridiculous amounts of money they are paid and teh their apparent disregard to the club and its fans

So a simple question. If it was just about money, setting aside the finances of the club, would you be prepared to pay Charlie more, if it meant he stayed with the club for another three years?

There lies the market footballers are fortunate enough to ply their trade. Supply and demand... and SKY money!

Its disgraceful what players earn but that's not the point. Clubs have got to pay us and Austin what he's worth in todays market.
He's a top goal scorer in the toppest of top leagues and should be paid top money.
What's is annoying is we got relegated so we lost some bargaining power and clubs know we're skint so are making us sweat.
He'll go on deadline day I'm sure of that.

Now there is talk of Him being off to Spuds, though perhaps just paper gossip. If true, is the first club that makes some sense for him. No doubt there will be the usual Levy attempt to offload dross as part of any offer!
