Park was a strange case. He seemed to work hard and try and contribute to the team, but his ability was mostly due to workload, speed and stamina - the latter two of which betrayed him as he got older. I think Rio's "skills" will age better than Park's.
Jason's knees (both of them) were knackered from the off.
A mate of mine in the medical business told me he'd been straight into some expensive Italian knee surgeon when he signed having both of them looked because they were both foooked.
Typical Fergueson sale.
Hop Rio's not as terminally crocked - it's been a recurring back problem for him IIRC?
Well I hope they really put him through his paces in the medical.. The last 2 years at Manure he didnt play much.
Intriguingly, though, Dunne missed a year due to injury and yet was fine from a fitness perspective when he joined us. Surely that means our physio team are doing something right? Or perhaps Villa's was dodgy?

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
I'm sure Man Utd had a player called Mick McGrath who in his last two seasons didn't train at all, when questioned about this Ferguson said "I don't need him to train I need him to play".

There's so much to love about that post.
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
We all have reservations, particularly about his age and the wages he's likely to be on. But he played 23 games for Man Utd last year, despite allegedly being one of Moyes' critics. 7 of those were in the Champions League and he made 34 appearances the year before. Reasonable signing. Will be even better if that is the catalyst for Caulker joining us.
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." (Mark Twain)

The club and Rio have been pulling out all the stops to convince us that this is a good signing of someone fit and with a genuine desire to play. Having seen Harry's press conference and RF's video diary, I'm happy to take this on trust until and unless things look different during the season to come.
I think this could work out well for the squad as a whole. Harry said that RF was one of the top MUFC players last season with regard to availability to train and play; he had a four hour medical and seems genuinely chuffed to be coming to a new challenge at QPR. Let's extend the man some faith, I say.
‘morbid curiosity about where this is all going’
The legend Paul McGrath singing the Contender which was a tribute to Jack Doyle. There careers had a lot of similarities. Doyles story is a very interesting one (married Movita, seperated because of drink and she later married Marlon Brando) and was going to be buried in a paupers grave in London till the people of Cobh paid to fly him home and bury him.
