Potter takes Billy Reid with him as his assistant wherever he goes. He was with him at Östersund, Swansea, Brighton and Chelsea so he wouldn't agree to Lallana being a replacement for him. Even a big club like Chelsea had to accept Reid. Most top managers have a long-term assistant they trust. He wouldn't want to train Lallana as his replacement. So, Potter and Lallana is a non-starter.

Potter, Dyche and Moyes seem to have replaced Redknapp, Hughes and Allardyce as the go to managers for any Premier League club that's in trouble. Meanhile, successful clubs recruit their managers from abroad. [Post edited 2 Oct 10:46]

Some of the players who got worse here, to the extent we all agreed we needed to get rid of them, have surprised us by going on on to do quite well at other clubs. Lemina, for example, is captain and regularly Man of the Match for Wolves and even Vestergaard has helped Leicester win a Championship title and is still a regular for them in the Premier League.
The problem with Bella-Kotchap is that he was used to higher standards at his previous clubs and made it known that he was unhappy with the way the club was being managed. He then started making his feelings known to the other players. That's why Martin doesn't want him anywhere near the team. It will, of course, not be a big surprise if Bella-Kotchap goes on to do very well at his next club. He's a German international defender. But no manager wants a player who makes it clear that he doesn't respect him. [Post edited 2 Oct 10:18]

Potter won't come here as he's waiting for a bigger club and even if he did, In order to get him we'd have to bend over backwards and then some so we certainly wouldn't be laying down conditions about him accepting an assistant manager. |

If we're going down the club connection route (and SR probably aren't), Fonte is better managerial material than Lallana. I could see him sorting out our defence and improving our younger players. With his connections in Portugal and France, he'd probably attract some good players here too. He's 40 now and would jump at the chance to manage Saints, even in our current predicament. I wouldn't trust anything Dodgy Dirk posts if I were you. He does post some rubbish.
The article I got those stats from was an old one. I double checked it tonight and since it was written, Forest have stayed up with only 5 points from their first 10 games. It's just as well I'm not a journalist. |

Ipswich will finish 19th because they've got a good manager and great team spirit. They've got a weaker squad than ours. Bournemouth are a better quallity team. That's why they beat us easily and Ipswich didn't.
It's a sobering thought that Ipswich at home was the easiest fixture we'll have all season. [Post edited 30 Sep 22:28]
