Barrow 09:14 - Nov 9 with 2075 views | TheOldOakTree | According to CUSA there are 28 U’s fans on the coach making its way to Barrow (and no doubt several others making the epic journey from Essex under their own steam), just to spend a couple of hours in a drab windswept stadium, in poor weather, just to watch their heroes. Every one of them should have an honorary place in the Col U Hall of Fame.
Barrow on 09:59 - Nov 9 with 1211 views | durham_exile | The classic expression “concentrate on the league” is now very much to the fore after late capitulation at Swindon last weekend. Frankly today is the ultimate reset for our season. Barrow under Stephen Clemence are 9th with 21 points from 14 games whilst we ae languishing in 21st place with 12 points from 13 games. Dumped out of the cup at the 1st Round stage (again) there is a frustratingly similar set of results to that of the last 5 seasons. Now I refuse to join the glass half empty brigade despite our grim start to the season and instead will suggest that we can still turn things around, however this must start today at the SO Legal Stadium in Barrow. The Bluebirds are once again punching above their weight and sit handily placed to join the top seven in League Two. Today is when we secure a vital away win and the players stand up to be counted. Also, DC will need to play his best team available not rely on favourites and he must stand firm by his decisions and not capitulate to play players who are either out of form or simply not good enough. Lyle Taylor should be playing today before heading to join with his Monserrat team mates for the Internationals. Similarly, McDonnell and Donnelly will also be away on similar duty. If they were available then my team would be: Macey Kells Goodliffe Iandolo Egbo Payne Read Woodyard Edwards Tovide Taylor However, injuries means that we should field the following in a 3,4,3 formation: Macey Goodliffe Donnelly Iandolo Egbo Payne McDonnell Read Thorn Taylor Sandah Subs: Smith Woodyard Scully Hopper Kells Anderson Gordon Weather will be 8 degrees Celsius, cloudy and dry. Safe journey to the 28 CUSA supporters plus those travelling in cars and on trains. It is 79 miles door to door for me today. Scoreline 2-1 to the Super U’s with Thorn and Taylor on the scoresheet. Enjoy the game. Up the U’s

Not sure NI under 21's have games. With luck Edwards should be back for next week and hey what would be wrong playing Goodliffe up front as did he not start out as a centre forward? Be happy if we get a point today.
Barrow on 12:29 - Nov 9 with 1141 views | noah4x4 | As one of said 28 on CUSA bus still an hour away I am vaguely optimistic. Barrow have recently hit the buffers and the football gods can’t keep dealing us shite referees, bad fortune, injuries and others in the Cowley book of prolific excuses. [Post edited 9 Nov 12:30]

We do know and how does Hunt start over Egbo and Flanagan over Goodliffe. Same every week.

Barrow on 15:31 - Nov 9 with 997 views | TheOldOakTree | Barrow are utter shite, the U's are no better so far. Payne is up for it, it would be nice if one or two others joined in, because we could win this. iFollow just zoomed in on the U's fans, you could see the pain.

Barrow on 15:56 - Nov 9 with 932 views | MarkyMark47 | Same old rubbish. No sign of any cohesion. Flanagan can't defend the ball and then falls over the opponent. And where was Hunt?

I do begin to wonder, as I'm sure do others, if by misfortune or whatever we have arrived at a squad of first team players for whom it doesn't really matter much. Get paid, go home, other stuff....but NOT Colchester United. I hope I am wrong but I see little to disabuse me of those thoughts. If this is so it wouldn't matter who or what the management was. It couldn't be done. We present as a spectacularly poor underachieving team.

I'm reluctant to criticise but even I was surprised to see Flanagan starting ahead of Goodliffe. Thorn and Tovide to come on and turn it around in the second-half I hope.
Barrow on 16:00 - Nov 9 with 916 views | noah4x4 | Swindon, Morecambe and Carlisle all winning or already won. Same old shite in front of me. The only saving grace might be Barrow have expended huge amounts of energy compared to Col U. Is that because we are slow and unfit, or are managing energy resources better? Tovide? We need to gamble….

So far today today, we look like a team that's going to be relegated. We need to get something from this, it wouldn't take a very good team to beat Barrow, I'm surprised they are top half.

Continuing the analogy if we were the NHS the condi2tion would be terminal. Big 45 to come. Changes required Thorn and Tovide to come on plus Goodliffe and Read Anderson, Gordon, Flanagan and McDonnell all to go off. Come on do we want this or not.

Second half I think we deserved that, but I was losing hope it would happen. Phew - no point papering over cracks, but that was a massive point!

At least Lyle Taylor does seem to care. 2-7-5 = 13 measly points. A long winter ahead as supporters I think.

Minimal effort from Taylor for the goal, Tovide put it on a plate for him. I think most U's fans would say Payne was the best signing. If only Samson could concentrate on the footy, because we looked twice the team when he came on. We can't complain about the ref today!! [Post edited 9 Nov 17:04]
