You are presenting a red herring.
One doesn't need to be a structural engineer in order to do a chemical analysis of dust samples and to establish that they contain nano-thermitic material.
PhD chemist Dr. Niels Harrit of the University of Copenhagen is one of co-authors of this paper:
Harrit has published extensively, and he is more than qualified to perform the kinds of analyses done in this paper.
Are you going to claim that Harrit is not a "reputable scientist" and that Dr. Steven Jones isn't either?
As for the administrative leave, it is not improbable that it was largely due to do with the political implications of his paper. After all BYU stands to lose a lot if one of their faculty bites the hand that feeds them when they are reliant on so many federal research grants and other funding.

These are serious questions that have yet to be answered.
Nobody has bothered to explain how carbon fires cause simultaneous truss failures even on a single floor much less multiple floors in quick succession.
After all, thousands of tons of asbestos-laden steel would serve as a massive heat-sink, dissipating even the relatively modest temperatures caused by a carbon fire.
