Nathan Redmond Issues Classy Farewell Message To Southampton
Thursday, 8th Sep 2022 15:11

Natham Redmond has wished a fond farewell to all at Southampton Football Club after his departure to Besiktas in Turkey, we repeat it here and wish him well for the future.

On Instagram, Redmond wrote:

"After 6 years as a Saint, my journey with you has come to an end. First of all I’d like to thank the Saints fans for your patience, support and memories we have shared together over the years. I signed for this wonderful football club when there was no manager appointed at the time; through the support and trust of Les Reed, Ross Wilson and Katharina bringing me to the club. I thank you deeply guys for making that happen! It was “The Southampton Way”. That was what got me. The sense of ambition and attacking, free-flowing football, mixed with a family-focused atmosphere within the club. Occasionally, this has been forgotten, pushed aside or not implemented when needed most; but I will always remember it’s true value and meaning. With the influx of the younger players coming through I hope that they bring you joy & also understand what it means to be a Saint!

"To the players - and some great friends made for life - I’ve spoken to you all already but again thank you for the memories we shared. In the good times, we played some great football. The difficult times, we had to grind out results in some of the darkest moments - we found ways and the strength together to dig ourselves out of it and pull through the towards better days. I wish you all nothing but the best for the future.

"To the staff members, again I tried to see everyone and speak to you before I left but as generic as it may seem, I thank you all for being something that this club values itself on - great people. In an up and down environment, thank you for your time and dedication towards the common goal. From the kitchen to kit staff; medical/S&C to liaison / media staff and of course, the various coaching teams and four managers that I’ve worked with throughout my time spent at this club. I can’t thank you all enough and I wish you guys nothing but the best for the future. Special mention to Les Reed, Ross Wilson, Martin Semmens, Matt Crocker, Katharina & the Liebherr family.

"A club that’s given me a huge platform for such a long time to grow as a player and a person. A club that has seen me at my best and my worst. Once a Saint, always a Saint. Southampton FC Thank you."

There are far too many Saints fans who completely refused to give him credit when due .I lost count of the times he started games very well with little appreciation, then 1 mistake and so many individuals around me in the Kingsland would start their abuse and criticism...yes, he could be very frustrating, not taking the responsibility sometimes to do what he does best on a football pitch, especially when isolated with a 1 on 1 situation. Those fans do not deserve the excellent words in his goodbye message to the club and especially the fans....Good luck Nath.

Now I feel guilty!!
Scored some scorchers; missed some monsters. But never shied away from the ball and tried - maybe that's the biggest compliment, never eased up on the effort.
Loved him and loathed him, often at the same time?!?! And he created some great memories.
My thanks and the best of luck in a totally new environment.

Another good servant to this club, maybe not as confident on the ball as his ability suggested but got far more stick than he ever deserved.
Good luck Nathan

Wishing him all the very best. Totally respect the way he has committed himself over some tricky years and particularly over the past few uncertain months for him, there are many players who would have thrown their dummy.our of the pram but he has applied his professionalism to the end.

A classy salute to all involved with SFC both on and off the pitch. I also have some great memories as well as a few WTF moments. I agree he was jumped on far too quickly by some if he made a mistake - to his arch critics I would say compare Nathan’s overall contribution to SFC to that cart horse Carrillo for example - now there was a player worthy of criticism!
Good luck in what will be a very different playing environment and thanks for the memories.

Class message from a class act. Looks like he's signed for a team with a strong squad so I hope, like Tadic, he now fully unleashes the player that we all saw on many occasions at Saints.

Best of luck Nathan.

On his day he had the talent to be as good as anything in the premier league but those days were just not consistent enough, particularly in recent seasons.

Thank you Nathan and all the best in Turkey.

Very classy. I always rated him but admit that sometimes I groaned with frustration. Genuinely wish him the very best.

Now to round off some great summer transfer business .... a £20m bid from Europe for Theo??
