he is in the same ;level as puel,so i dont see any improvment or advantage.both were defenders andhave nearly the same tactics.i am not so enthusiasic about this

Hopefully (and some reports back this up) he combines the dedication, self belief, high pressing philosophy and player management skills of Poch with the tactical flexibility/adaptability of Koeman. Just because Alves finished roughly the same as Saints (mid table and cup final) doesn't mean it's the same - they were newly promoted with presumably small relative budget and squad quality, they overachieved and we underachieved.

disagree with Vega, he appears to be the polar opposite of what Puel was like, hence he seems to be in pole position now; the board know they can't replicate another Puel again. Pellegrino is more of a Koeman/Poch mould which has to be good news for us watching fans again.

He looks like a poor man's version of Puel. His managerial record is even more mediocre and his teams don't score goals either. I really don't see the point in appointing him as he is unlikely to last more than a year. I guess he was the only one desperate enough for a job to agree to do what old Les tells him while his best players are sold.

Perhaps we need to get realistic here, Saints are currently a mid table club with ambitions to win a domestic trophy and play in the Europa League. We are not a top six club, able to attract and pay top players, and have a core fan base that doesn't inspire confidence in expanding the stadium capacity. Pellegrino seems to me the ideal, available, manager to take us forward and could well bring back the Poch style of football we all enjoyed. Taking the game to the opposition rather than absorbing pressure is always going to get supporters behind the team and I'm really optimistic this is the the right guy for the job.

Firstly - let's get 100% behind him. Secondly - why a long-term contract? 3 years is about right. After max 2 years we'll know if he's up to the job, so we won't have shedloads to pay up if he's sacked. Alternatively, as with the current Spurs and Eveton managers, if he's doing well he'll have his head turned after max 2 years and we'll be able to demand compensation.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Watford Polls |
