Will Saints Add More In The Transfer Window Thursday, 22nd Jan 2015 14:11 There is absolutely no concrete rumours of any incoming players to St Mary's in this transfer window, but is this wall of silence merely a smokescreen. The good thing about Ronald Koeman is that he doesnt make claims of signing players before they are signed, in fact the complete opposite, he is far more likely to deny a rumour out of hand even if he is near to completion on a transfer. That was the case with Toby Alderweireld back in the summer with Koeman stating that we had no chance of signing him right up to the time the player arrived at St Mary's. So far since the announcement of Eljero Elias joining the club back in December the silence has been deafening, however is this Koeman being canny or are we really not interested in anymore aquisitions. The truth is that every side would sign the right player at the right price if he became available and Ronald Koeman is no different, however he knows the wisdom of keeping your cards close to his chest and not wasting time whinging about being down to the bare bones and desperately needing to strengthen the squad, I also suspect his dog doesnt have a bank account either. But Koeman knows that without paying mega bucks he would find it hard to improve the squad anymore than it is at the moment, yes perhaps we do need a right back and perhaps we do need a back up striker, but if we look closely when everyone is back from injury and international duty none of it is urgent. Indeed right back is the only area where we dont have recognised cover for Nathaniel Clyne and indeed in an emergency Jack Cork could be pressed into action in that position where he has performed admirably before. Otherwise we have the players and more to the point the return of Jay Rodriguez will be like signing a new player to the squad and that could be important in the final run in. So im not expecting too much in the next 10 days, although if someone does come you know they will add something to the squad and that is the Koeman touch.
