Gaston Ramirez Joins Hull City
Monday, 1st Sep 2014 22:30

Shock of the day for Saints is that Gaston Ramirez has left the club for the delights of Hull City.

The words coming from Ronald Koeman in the past few days seemed to be saying that Gaston Ramirez might have a chance to re boot his career at the club, however that has been turned on its head with the breaking news that the Uruguayan has joined Hull City on a season long loan.

That means that Saints will have two of their biggest signings playing no part fro the club for the rest of the season with Ramirez at £12 million and Osvaldo at £15 million now both out on loan, although it is likely that Saints will still be paying a big chunk of both their wages.

With the Mane deal Gastons match time would probably be limited again so a good deal for the player and hopefully he will get a decent run in the hull team to build his confidence and give us an option for next season.

Disappointed with this I would like to have seen Gastons potential without Lallana getting first pop

Gaston is an enigma. Stunning v Newcastle at home in our first PL season, flashes of brilliance afterwards but generally a damp squib for the money we paid.
Weird that he gets "this will be his season" from the fans yet other players are condemned after a game or so.
Very high wage earner with little end product (thus far).
We have no (actual) constraints under FFP re his wages, It is a question of "value for money" and parity with the rest of the squad, if wages are a factor in him being loaned out for a season.

Hopefully he comes back better than ever-and scores a load against Spurs and Scousehampton!

Surprised like many to hear this and I am disappointed by it I must admit. I thought this would be a good season for him. True that he never did fulfill his potential but then he never had a regular run in the side. I thought we could do with his passing ability at the moment, in and around the box.
