Loan for a loan?
Loan for a loan?

Leeds are set to complete the loan signing of Dexter Blackstock from Notts Forest and bring in free-agent Marius Zaliukas, but where is the cash coming from?

According to the Square Ball fanzine, Leeda have secured a cash injection by taking out a loan with Berrydale Sports Holdings. Ironically our Chief Executive David Haigh is also a Director of Berrydale.

News of Blackstock's impending arrival broke around 48 hours ago. McDermott admitted he knows Blackstock well and according to Brian be is "a good lad" with "a decent goals ratio". Having never had the pleasure of meeting Dexter, I am happy to take Brian's word on his character but last season he managed just seven goals in 39 games for Forest and has played just twice this season, so I'm yet to be convinced he will provide any more cutting edge up front than Varney or Hunt who are presently out of favour -that is of course if we sign the 27-year-old.

Zaliukas, the Lithuanian captain arrived on trial last week and Brian is apparently trying to negotiate a deal with the 29-year-old ex Hearts skipper, who was released by the Jambo's in the summer and apparently had appeared on QPR's radar. It does beg the question if a club with their resources do not sign him then the decision is ability not money-based.After all QPR turned down the chance to sign Central African goal machine Habib Habibou, or whatever his name was and we all hailed that as a major coup last January!

And what of the Square Ball's story? Sorry to be glass-half-empty and all that but financial loans into the club do bother me stemming right back from Ridsdale's disastrous decision to borrow against future gate receipts over a decade ago and arguably we are still suffering now. Our former owner Ken Bates, critical of Ridsdale's folly also borrowed money from Enterprise Insurance and Ticketus, the latter commiting this summers' season ticket money to complete the rebuilding of the East Stand, cash Brian so desperately needed to rebuild the ageing squad he inherited from Warnock.

I do have a great deal of sympathy for GFH Capital and Chairman Salah Nooruddin, they have undertaken a massive PR charm offensive to woo-back the disenchanted masses who deserted the club during the Bates era, however at best the fans response could be described as "lukewarm". Just 21301 turned up for Sunday's crushing of Birmingham City, however the game was televised so hopefully we will draw in a few more for Yeovil on Saturday week particularly if we get a good result at Huddersfield on Saturday.

As the "unofficial Leeds United" blog basically puts it, lets hope the loan deal with Berrydale is one of convenience and merely a case of Haigh using his network to bring in some funds for Brian in the absence of a major investor. Lets hope the club are not suffering yet another day-to-day cash flow crisis.

Sounds quite an interesting content, I have been working with https://www.louisianainstantloans.com and it would be a great change for me too, Hope the loan does not make an issue for the team to play.
