Service ! Best and worst restaurant you have ever been to ?
at 12:17 26 Sep 2024

As I said, it’s been 15 years plus since I last visited BDR so it may not be as good but when I used to go there the food was second to none.
Been to Hanson’s for lunch a couple of times and reasonably impressed. Nice setting and food good. Set menu.
Must try Thai Bach some time.

Apart from this I think it best to give a no comment on the grounds I may offend too many people.

Ridiculous decision but not entirely surprising for this lot.

I do wish that they would concentrate on putting things right with all the things the Tories got wrong rather than trying to gain political capital by blaming them for everything. That well is now dry.

Of course, they have to because they don’t have the answers either.

Time for a General Election😂

You are quite right but one thing bucks that trend and that’s British Rail catering. I was lucky enough to eat in the restaurant car on a couple of occasions and the food was very high quality. Also proper silverware and white table cloth. All gone now I suppose unless there are ‘specials’ that do it.

That said, if you just wanted a sandwich then be prepared to be disappointed with the quality. Soggy cheese and tomato with hard bread

Not forgetting ‘banana’ to describe far east people with western attributes / lifestyles.

My best and worst restaurant is actually the same one.

It was the best restaurant because the food is first class. Wonderful starter selection and steaks with delicious rich sauces of your choice. Ambience reasonably good as well.

However, one evening a party of 8 of us went there. They came along with a bread basket with some small but delicious rolls. I asked for another one after ordering our meals which the waiter reluctantly gave me. I then made the mistake of asking for a third (this had been some time, not one after the other) and he told me that they only give two rolls per person. I asked him if he was serious, his facial expression gave me the answer.

We ordered from the starters and my wife had something which had prawns with it. She doesn’t like them so when the meal came I said to the waitress if I could have them. She said no! Then turned to my wife and said “do you want them or not?”.

We ordered lots of wine and all had 3 courses so the bill was a large one. I left absolutely no tip.

We were the last to leave the restaurant and the owner came out smiling asking us if everything was ok and I told her what had gone wrong. She was apologetic saying that that’s not their policy.

I wrote to her shortly afterwards explaining more fully what had happened and hoped she’d use that as constructive feedback as it was intended. I heard nothing from her.

So going from a fairly regular visitor, always in a largish party, I haven’t been there for 15 years or so. And I do miss the food.

The restaurant? Bouchon De Rossi, Oxford St.

By definition, being brave implies taking risks. Putting him in from the start maybe akin to throwing him to the wolves if he doesn’t perform. This is why they are given short cameos, it’s to get them used to the pressure and the step up in standard without a great amount of pressure.

I’ve not seen KW play so he may have all the attributes required but generally speaking there’s a reason for the softly softly approach.

I hope the 26th October will be the catalyst for further peaceful but forceful protest. The people need to be heard. My fear is that the march will be subject to protestors who will antagonise to the point where some violence will occur. It’s guaranteed. And admittedly, with some who will be there it doesn’t take much to start them off and the media / press (barring one or two) will focus on that.

You support them, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind. If you didn’t, you’d be phrasing your points much differently to the way you do, qualifying them with statements of disapproval. You don’t, you seem proud of the fact you support a demonic dictator. You’re always opposite to commonly held views, I think that may say something!

So, why doesn’t this new government hell bent on being the party of justice instruct said police forces to go in and do their job to protect innocent young girls. Incidentally, that was another claim by YC today that the streets should be safe and no females should be afraid to walk them.

This is two-tier policing at its finest. Not the force’s doing but the politicians who won’t back them. Unless it’s an easy target of course. Going into heavily inhabited Muslim areas is far from easy!

And I take it, the stool in question was not a three-legged wooden one😁

No I didn’t because it would be petty. But the guy is a provocateur and can’t take the flak.

The next thing we’ll hear is that a zombie knife is part of a prayer ritual but not intended to use for purposes of violence.

I’m getting sick of this country and the way it’s meting out so called justice. Today, I heard Yvette Cooper standing at the lecture, preening herself and spouting rubbish, saying how bad the Tories were and how they won’t tolerate disorder on the streets. Ok, fair enough but what about the grooming gangs mainly in the north west who have been allowed to get away with what they’ve done for far too long and undoubtedly still happening. They’ll go in with full riot gear to arrest a Facebook perpetrator but won’t set foot in the other strongholds.

If a hurty word is heard, be prepared to do some bird. Anything else, carry on!!

I’ve got to say Keith, it was posted under severe provocation. Maybe the person responsible for that should be taken to task also.

The entire OAPs in the country could turn against them and they wouldn’t care one bit.

They won’t want the unions having a go though so I hope she rips them a new one.
