I don’t get that impression at all. He knew exactly what he was doing. Tried to force a move and it backfired. Unfortunately, the club suffers as a result. Take a look at the thread on his comments at Notts County. He’s got form. |

This isn’t naivety. He’s done it twice. He would have known full well not to do it in the first place and then I’m sure would have had stern words before the Portsmouth game. My guess is he was under the impression it was happening and something has changed since. |

This part I agree with you on. I find it ridiculous that adults who have been watching football most of their lives genuinely think a squad with two competent centre backs (I know we had the lad who couldn’t get in the Reading team on loan), no creativity and the weakest strike force in the division, should be higher than mid table. Chuck a bottom third wage bill in for good measure. Whether people like the style of play, we’re punching well above our weight. The table doesn’t lie this deep into the season. Where I disagree with you is the excuses you’ve been making up for Williams comments, which he doubled down on a few days later. Even if he was having a Rodgers season, the minute he openly disrespects the club and makes it abundantly clear he doesn’t want to be here, he’s a dead man walking. We are better than that. |

Completely with you on this. What his teams do on the pitch and the comments he made in the week are totally separate issues. Vetch is right in that an injury to Cabango highlights exactly how poor our squad is. Despite that, the disdain he showed SCFC is in no way acceptable. |

I’m not sure the crowd will react badly to him unless we’re getting played off the park. Support the team above all else. Things have to get really bad before the crowd turns toxic |

I was thinking this myself. I’d far rather he be put on gardening leave and get the well deserved stigma that comes with it than paid off and able to walk straight into another job as if he hadn’t just screwed up our season and potentially cost us one of our most important players. |

I’m in exactly the same boat. I think he’s done a good job given the squad depth, but those comments were inexcusable. He’s got to go. I hope Coleman and co read these boards. This is their first real test as new owners and it’s a massive one. |

Or if West Brom do actually want him, which he had obviously been lead to believe, why offer us £1.8m when they can just sit back and watch this unfold. He may be available for free before long |

Well if Harry Darling was on the verge of signing and now he’s not, it’s not just the clubs hierarchy and the supporters feeling demoralised by it… |

Media speculation is what is but those comments were deliberate and unacceptable. He’s got to go, sooner the better. I agree he’s done a good job, but he’s disrespected the club and made his job untenable. |

I think he’s more shrewd than that. After the Luton game you could maybe put it down to naivety. To do the same thing again a few days later, when he’d have undoubtedly had a rocket after the first one isn’t a coincidence. He’s put Coleman in a very difficult position and he’s done it without a hint of thought for our club. |

There’s no incentive for them to appoint him quickly. He’s made himself persona non grata here. The longer it drags on, the more pressure there is on us to sack him or cut a deal with them. If they don’t want him, both us and Williams are in a bad position. I don’t think he’d have made those comments unless he was very confident they wanted him though. |
| Forum Reply | Swansea City : Does Luke know what he is doing to our club ? at 18:48 2 Jan 2025
Duff was a lot worse than Williams. He oversaw our worst start to a season for 30 years. Williams is a mid table manager. There’s a reason one of them went to a smaller club than us at our expense and the other is going to a bigger one for compensation. Having said that, at least what you saw was what you got with Duff. He wasn’t a conniving, duplicitous fraud. |
