A game of very little penalty area excitement. Cannot give Cook a half chance, has he will undoubtedly score against the U’s ( How many times is that now ). Credit for us to keep going with a 10 min extra time equaliser, to U’s MoM, McConnelly, who silently went around the hole clearing up play. Sadly the U’s have to sub the club captain to get a equaliser ! Finished with two wide and two down the middle, what chance of that for the forthcoming fixtures. |

FORMER Colchester United manager Joe Dunne has been named as Gillingham's new youth team manager. If their is any man who should be in the coaching set up with his experience and bringing the youngsters on it must be Joe. |

Wish him well, would have preferred he stayed at Regent where he did a decent job. M & T at present at the wrong end of the table,(in the bottom four). Have had far to many a turnover of managers over the last couple of seasons. Where is Wayne Brown these days, still on the U’s coaching staff ? Does Hussey return to the U’s coaching set up ? |

Mom was the commentator on the Sky format . No histrionics, informative, and fair to both sides, and never heard the word “ absolutely “ once. Although busy Payne kept running into troubled areas and lost possession far too often, game too many for him, should have sat this one out, or shows how desperate DC has become in getting a positive result ( but Lyle cancer campaign is not included in the win scheme ). Gave the U’s MoM to the half Anderson played . Hopper again worked his a@se off up front. Let’s not get too optimistic in the result, Gunners side lost some to international call ups and the game a glorified training session for the Men from Essex against the young Guns. A wins a win, if it results in Saturday three points all well and good . [Post edited 13 Nov 8:21]

Pre match focused on the duel role of Chesham management team. When asked on U’s role, DC focuses on opposition and NC on the U’s. Also showed highlights of the U’s exit out the competition, soft goals being the key words. Nice little earner for a Monday night, better be back for training Tuesday morning on time or take a fine . Oh, the game, easy romp for DC’s formers. |

Current total raised now up to £2.4 K. See some notables have donated, plus some of his teammates. Well done all. My goals bonus scheme now finished, but for one extra push out of the team malaise will now donate £10 for every league WIN up to end of year. Tall order I know, so up the U’s. |

Not one player in the Saturdays squad had come from the Florence Park football factory. The Cowling template on its inception was to have 50/50 side of young and old present in the side. So something is wrong somewhere. Although luckily to be one of the leagues lowest clubs with Category 2 status, playing other clubs at this level to high for there abilities, has overlooking results are nearly all defeats . Clearly the young players picked up for U18 /U21 are struggling at their levels or the rare exceptional be jettisoned into national league level for rapid progress. So perhaps the fixture list should be levelled to play Category 3 sides instead of 2 sides which are nearly all Championship level. Losing to such sides regularly cannot help young players abilities . |

Defence was doing well cutting the box getting across the box , then fall asleep with high wide ball. Two wide men off for the experience of Scully and Anderson. A ball from the byline by Egbo creates the goal, (is that a surprise ) . However Egbo assist cancelled out by deflection of shot which flat foots Macey. Did nowhere enough to win this game, and the hard earnt point midweek is yet again not backed up with a home win. Same mistakes every week, never learnt. Sign of madness . Or is that me thinking this season was going to be better ! [Post edited 26 Oct 15:27]

Jack Thorpe, no longer with club, trailed, Indhoven to the club, hence now 250k better off. Due to being in Cat 2, the majority of coaches are funded by PL. The real question to ask is not the quantity of coaches present, but the quality of players being produced. |

Let’s hope he has a better career than another Ex Nodge striker who we signed - Adrian Coote . U’s spent an afternoon at the Shabby, trying to put one one a plate, only for the barn door to shut ! |

Having missed a game due to the international break, U’s FA Cup game against Swindon will be included in Lyle Taylor bonus scheme, although outside the October remit. So stay sharp Lyle and best wishes with them pink boots getting your and the U’s goal tally higher. |
