| News Comment | Southampton V Brighton The Preview at 06:41:06
We do stand a chance of winning at Brighton, play a recognised left back, bring in a CB, move Downes into midfield, drop Stephens, play Tall Paul if he's fit, play safe at the back and hoof the ball upfield when under pressure. Simple. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Liverpool The Verdict at 10:11:00
We bought CB's Edwards and Wood in the summer, we have a German international CB Bella-Kotchap, we have Taylor who has played CB in the Premier League. Instead of utilising one of these, Martin takes our most mobile midfielder and plays him at CB. Uter madness. For those that will argue that Edwards and Wood are inexperienced, transfermarkt has their value at nearly double that of Stephens, and how are they supposed to gain experience if they don't play? |
| News Comment | Central Defensive Injury Blow For Southampton at 04:41:14
McCalamity in goal, Stephens at CB. Top of the table playing bottom of the table. What could go wrong? 1-0 to Saints. Pass me some more of that wacky-backy. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Manchester United The Verdict at 10:56:51
You are all being too soft on Stephens. The tackle was typical of a Sunday Pub League, studs to knee, no where near the ball, so late the ball was over a metre away when contact was made. Martin had a clear view, only a few meters away from him, but gets himself booked protesting about a red card that was as clear as any you will ever see. Stephens must be stripped of the captaincy, sent to train with the under 18's, and only reinstated if we lose 9-0. The team at Everton should be an opportunity to see what ABK can do, and please don't risk our best players in a meaningless cup game. |
| News Comment | Southampton Put In BId For Feyenoord Keeper at 21:04:26
Any keeper's price has gone up a few million thanks to McCalamity, everyone can see how desperate Saints are now. Should have made goalkeeper our first signing after gaining promotion. |
| News Comment | Adam Armstrong Signs New Southampton Deal at 15:56:50
What short memories you have. Armstrong has a terrible first touch, in the Championship he can get away with it but in the Premier League to let the ball bounce 2 metres in front of you means you have lost it to the centre half. He doesn't have the pace to outrun the faster Premiership defenders. Maybe Stewart can make the grade, but as he was missing from the squad against Eastleigh don't hold your breath. Saints need 2 strikers, so let's hope they learned not to leave it to deadline day when they lost out on Gakpo. |
| News Comment | Saints 23/24 Season Review - The Defence at 05:20:34
I would add that Bednarek is not Premiership standard either, he lacks the pace necessary, as was demonstrated in our relegation season. |
| News Comment | Saints May Have To Cash In On Star Defender at 05:16:50
Some people have short memories. He was consistently caught out for lack of pace in the Premier, that's why no Premier club bought him last year and why he flopped at Villa. THB and KWP are the only 2 defenders we have who are good enough, we need to buy a goalkeeper, CB and left back. |
| News Comment | Keep It Simple, Play Your Best Players, Change Little ! Is The Message To Southampton at 08:28:45
So Nick "we played in a formation that the players knew how to play" well where did Stephens fit in to this? He appeared to be operating as a third centre-back, a formation I don't recall us playing before. If you consider he was a midfielder, you have previously told us he is not suited to that role. I am not a supporter of his, but the team did look better balanced against Leeds. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Stoke City The Verdict at 20:34:36
The managers instructions were probably don't get sent off and don't get injured. The match was a success, who gives a damn if we finish 4th with 84 or 87 points? |
| News Comment | Southampton V Middlesbrough The Verdict at 21:01:09
The real irony is last month we were all hoping for automatic promotion because the play-offs are a lottery. Now we are glad the play-offs are a lottery because we are not the third best team in the Championship, but a lottery gives Saints a chance. Nick, do your research, the threshold for suspension has now been raised from 10 bookings to 15, with Bednarek on 9 before this match there was no way he would be risked even for 10 minutes. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Rotherham The Verdict at 20:46:34
Like StTed88 I would like to thank Nick for putting in the time and effort to keep this site running. Nick, I often disagree with you, but then I disagree with some of the negative posts on here too. We all have our favourite players, and our least favourite too and I would get shot down in flames if i told you who my least favourite is. If I could be granted one wish (besides getting promoted) it would be that Bazunu doesn't get injured, he is now our key player in that his back-up is way below his standard. |
| News Comment | Saints Launch New Home Kit For 2023/24 Season at 20:39:07
This shirt reminds me of the old soap powder adverts, this red half was washed in Dazzle, the faded pink side in another leading brand. On TV (on the rare occasions we will get chosen) the shirt looks half pink and half red, gets my vote for the worst Saints shirt ever and I wouldn't be seen dead in it. Glad I have last season's green shirt and the previous season's black shirt, they are my favourites. |
| News Comment | Southampton Will Be Home In The Carabao Cup at 05:21:23
Our only chance of progressing to the semis was Charlton at home and hope we scrape through on penalties. Nick's proclamation that if we beat City we could go all the way is a joke, all the other teams are better than us at the moment, even Forest have a striker. |
