The tainted First Minister
at 20:48 26 Jun 2024

Now then, Welsh Labour want closed lists for Welsh elections but it sees Drakeford isn't happy at Welsh voters having an MP candidate "parachuted" on them without any choice.

If it's right for the Senedd why isn't it ok for Westminster? hypocrisy much, oh, and,

Probably? Glad to find out you can still predict a future, oops soory, I mean yet another assumption about one of our best managers who left because of off the pitch reasons more than on pitch.

Who gave him Eder and Tabanou?

Guidolin too good to be sacked but he was sacked, you need a better idea! Although I do think he was hard done by.

Now Southgate, unlike Southgate we didn't have some of the top players in the world. If only we had Bellingham, Kane, Saka, Foden and Grealish.

It's a drum I'll keep on banging, football has to get its finaces in order. It has to stop paying out more than it can afford.

These players may think they deserve 15k per week and in the EPL they think they deserve 150k per week but the reality is that almost every club posts a loss every season. It can't be sustainable and it leads simply to the club with the richest owners winning the trophies. At least back in the 70's and 80's (and obviously the decades before) a really well run, well managed club could make a breakthrough. The chances of that happening are dwindling fast and football has become bring and predictable.

Votes for Prisoners and 16 yr olds
at 16:56 24 Jun 2024

Well you said "It's been shown that people of all ages and intellectual capacities get taken in by smooth operators...which is what modus operandi many modern "politicians" use. So the truth is many of those that oppose it do so out of fear"

And I responded by pointing out REASONS why we shouldn't let 16 year olds vote and why I wasn't against it out of fear so, no there's straw man to be seen here.

No, there is no biological line and even older and cleverer people get dupednbut 16 year olds will e duped even more easily, generally speaking because they have no eperience to call on and n knowledhe of what is it they are choosing because most of them aren't interested.

Indeed so many people aren't interested any more that they don't even bother to vote. Most 16 year olds don't see futher into their future than the next fun thing, seeing their girlfriend, the next football match etc.

Israel/Hamas ceasefire
at 16:47 24 Jun 2024

That israel sacrificed those soldiers is merely an opinon that someone or other may share with you but many others would disagree.

That video footage, the IDf were hardly thick on the ground there that day. even on D Day you could find areas in Northern France that had hardly any troops present. It's not like Israel was expecting a major incursion. That comes down to, in my opinion, a major feck up by Mossad and/or other intelligence services.

That is utter nonsense, Hamas had to storm watch towers and small army camps. They killed some soldiers, took others prisoner,

https://abcnews.go.com/International/detailed-hamas-secretly-crossed-israel/stor

There was lots of fighting and it didn't just happen at one entry point, they breached in quite a few areas so as to keep the numbers in any one place low and eeasier to disguise.

An old boss of mine admitted to being a freemason when I was working fr him. He was a good boss, a good bloke really and taught me a lot.

I heard a rumour he got off a few speeding fines but that's about all. He used to have an old Mk 2 Jag, like the one Morse drove.

I'd agree with the second bit. As dull as Sunak was, siding, or even appearing to side with Putin is a massive cock up.

Farage is a berk, or as I already called him, a spiv looking for easy money (the money part being an MP seat) and he can talk all he wants about what the people of the UK want but he's just another snake oil salesman. If Reform somehow won this election they'd do what was good for them.

Maybe I read to many nasty stories about politics but I have a deep mistrust of anybody who affiliates with a party because they all end up the same way, they all serve themselves and watch each others backs.

And to think people disagree when I say they are mostly corrupt, self serving, greedy, disngenuous and not deserving of a place in Westminster. Whichever party.

Just vote for an independent candidate and get rid of these foul, loathsome, cheating, lying parties.

Either Sunak is lying, stupid or completely naive if he really doesn't know all this has gone on. I wouldn't be surprosed if some of Sunak's friends had put a large bet on too.

Maybe it is inevitable but by not Letting them win they are drained of resources and manpower. A protracted war for Ukraine wekanes Russia. It has obviousky been happening because Putin has been off to friends and allies arranging deals for fresh supplies. I wonder what Kim Jong Un is giving him?

It does seem like he's drifted fiurther away from China though. Iran have sold him a lot of drones, wonder how many they can produce?

How do you feel about this war? Do you think Russia are right?

Fear of what?

Yes allkinds of people at all ages get conned, everyone can be foolish and stupid. Done my fair share of that and still do occassionally. It's not why I oppose the vote for 16 year olds though.
We don't let them, in the law, drink alcohol till their 18 but they can vote? A few beers down your mates when the parents are out (and many other places) is something most people my age know about. Many would say it's wrong and stupid and that a 16 year old isn't mature enough to decide to drink alcohol yet old enough to choose a government?

Maybe we should let them join the armed forces and be sent to a front line then? Maybe we should let them drive on the roads by themselves, if they can pass the test.

Why don't we let them do those things....because they are children and not responsible enough but they can choose a government.

PS, where did you get 30 from?

Rising national debt
at 09:48 22 Jun 2024

Aside from 2020/21, large budget deficits occurred in the mid-1970s and early 1990s and more recently after the 2008-2009 financial crisis. The UK had above an average budget deficit in 2022/23 and 2023/24. The UK faces high inflation, higher interest rates and a relatively slowly growing economy.

For those reasons the debt was obviously going to rise and covid saw it rise by a lot. The tories weren't the only government to habndle covid badly but if they hadn't done furlough they would have been roasted for that too.

How many countries don't have large national debt these days? The thing about it is, in my opinin, it's just another scam perpetraed on the masses by the rich and powerful. have a look and see who owns national debt and how much of other countries debt is owned by the UK. have a look how much the UK owes to the Bank of England. It's another scam to prop up the already rich, as if they need it.

It will continue to rise as most of our deficit goes to oay just the interest on our debt.

Oh behave, Truss had a right mullering on here. She may have had one or two supporters but she was roundly condemned, criticised and laughed at.

Thing is, we all do whataboutery but just because somebody was worse it doesn't mean the person being criticised was any good. Being less bad is hardly a ringing endorsement.

I agree with you apart from the benefot thing. How can it be said that somebody who has always lived off benefits makes a contribution to their future?

They are given money supplied by working people, unless they have earned it is always the workers paying for that future.

PS, we do try to control who has children, the laws are there for that reason.
