| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 17:56:16 Oh dear! What an awful performance. We had 60% possession but did nothing with it. We were so poor in the final third. Samba bossed Lambert, and that's the most ineffective I've ever seen Rickie. Just shows how much we rely on him. Puncheon did nothing all game. We needed a creative spark but it rarely happened. Ramirez was subdued and apart from his goal he didn't do enough. His delivery from deadball was awful too. Lallana looked lively before he unfortunately had to go off and Rodriguez was our best attacking player when he came on. Our defence was pathetic once again. Fox got caught out by a simple ball for the first, and then instead of closing the shot down he went to the goalline giving Remy the chance to steady himself and pick his spot. Yoshida was at fault for the 2nd goal, he slid in on Park and didn't win it. If you commit yourself in that position then you have to win it. He didn't and Park had loads of time to pick out Boothroyd for a tap in. If we don't see Forren come in for Yoshida now then something is wrong. Does Poche not rate Forren? He wasn't even on the bench today! Pochettino has his work cut out now. We need a plan B if Lambert is taken out of the game. We need our creative players to create something! Saints were too slow in possession today. If you want to play your way through teams then you need to do it quickly. Much improvement needed to stay up. A hugely dissapointing display. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 14:19:07 The Fonte handball was a penalty. You can't jump with your hand above your head. He was very lucky to get away with it. Looking at the fixtures, in the coming weeks we've got away trips to Aston Villa, Wigan and Newcastle. We can't afford to lose any of these games and we probably need to win two of them. The games against Arsenal, Everton, Man Utd and Man City can be seen as a bonus if we get a win in one of them. 4 points would be a great return. By the end of February, we could be cut adrift in the bottom 3, or be heading towards safety. Some big games coming up! | Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 17:27:42 Awful result in the end. At 3-1 up we should never have drawn this game. We had a whole season's worth of luck in one game and it still wasn't enough for 3 points. Very worrying. A fantasic cross from Guly for Lambert's opener, and then a huge amount of luck for our 2nd and 3rd goals. In the 2nd half, why did we keep pumping long balls forward when there was an easy short pass on? Surely Adkins should've told them to try and keep hold of the ball and slow the game down? Adkins' tactics in the 2nd half we're questionable to say the least! It seems he has no clue about how to see a game out. The turning point was the open goal that Guly missed. It was an absolute sitter and would've put us 4-1 up. Then a minute later Stoke had pulled one back and it was 3-2. We had even more luck when N'Zonzi was sent off and then moments later Stoke should've had a clear penalty for handball by Fonte. This is why we are going down. More dropped points from winning positions. We should've beaten Man Utd, Swansea, Norwich and now Stoke. We keep throwing points away and its going to catch up with us. In the bottom 3 now and in serious danger of going down. Can't keep throwing points away. Saints must buy a keeper in January. Davis was shaky again and his kicking was atrocious! At least Jack Cork is showing what a great player he is. Tremendous once again in the middle. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 12:28:32 Saints were excellent in the first 20 minutes. We looked assured on the ball, confident in possession and had a decent grip on the game. Rodriguez had that great chance to put us 2-0 up as well. But then we failed to deal with a routine cross from Miralles, when Clyne was left two on one down our left hand side, and just like that Everton were level. Another soft goal. Then for the remainder of the half we were completely over-run by a rampant Everton. We lost control of the midfield and couldn't stop wave after wave of attacks. The second goal, Fellaini and Miralles were allowed to play through our midfield way too easy, and maybe a more switched on defender would've let Jelavic run offside instead of Fonte who went with him, played him onside and then never got close to him. The third goal was no surprise when it came as Everton were in complete ascendancy and they could've easily been up by more at half-time. In the 2nd half Saints were much better. They regained a grip on the game and created a few decent chances. If Ramirez had managed to put that dinked effort the right side of the post, after a fantastic ball from Lambert, then Saints might have been able to nick a draw. Mayuka again looked very useful when he came on, its just a shame he only got 10 minutes. He did really well for the chance he cut back to Ramirez on the edge of the box. Maybe he should start up front with Lambert v Fulham. He will cause problems for a lot of defences. Lallana struggled to make an impact throughout, and Ramirez needlessly and frustratingly gave the ball away 5 or 6 times in the 2nd half. Ward-Prowse did well for the majority, he has got a big future ahead. Overall, it was a dissapointing result. Saints did really well in the opening 20 minutes and had a good 2nd half, but got torn to shreds once Everton had equalised. There are still plenty of postives to take from the game . If Saints can stop conceeding soft goals, and regain control when the other team are on top, then the results will come. |
