Is Madsen the man to solve QPR's long term CM issue? Signing
at 21:49 23 Aug 2024

As a Danish R since 1976, I haven’t seen many Danish players during my many years at Loftus Road. Marc Nygaard and Mikkel Beck were among the few until Lucas Andersen recently joined. Therefore, it’s quite strange to suddenly have two Danes in the squad. Almost surreal.
I’ve read several comments suggesting we’re becoming Brentford, but no way. A few Danes is the only similarity. Hopefully, we’ll soon catch up with that bus stop and Madsen could be a stepping stone in that direction. It’s funny that we’ve ended up with one of Benham’s former players - as you correctly pointed out Clive - Madsen will hopefully bring some much-needed drive and passing skills into the midfield.

When Nicolas Madsen played for FC Midtjylland, which was partly owned by Benham at the time, he gained experience playing at the highest level in Denmark and in Champions League group matches. He didn’t fall through and did quite well. Midtjylland fans praise him for his time there and tell me that he was popular, physically strong, and considered a great talent. The main reason he didn’t break through at the time was that they had a very strong midfield with Jens Cajuste, who went to Napoli and now Ipswich, Frank Onyeka from Brentford, and Brazilian technician Evander. Madsen was young and inexperienced back then, but very promising, so I believe and hope that we at QPR can now benefit from him being more experienced, yet still young and physically strong. I think he can actually adapt quickly to the Championship and really hope to see him make his debut tomorrow when I’m at the rail seating section at Loftus Road with my kids. When they’re with me, we always win! U Rrrrss!

Be careful not to jinx the match on Saturday. We won the last four games that I brought my kids to Loftus Road. And it seems like we will bring another Dane with us to strenghten the midfield as well :-)

I am also coming over to HQ on Saturday with all my kids. The youngest is 13 years old. I wonder if he is allowed to enter a pub? Obviously he is not drinking alcohol (yet), but could his age cause us problems? We are all wearing hoops.

If Spain win the final it will be well deserved. Would love Marti to get a few Spanish players to sign for QPR. Angel Rangel did not do bad.

I will refrain from coming here tomorrow and telling salty jokes if Denmark wins. Anyway, it's most likely that England will win. And if it is Eze who scores the decisive goal, then I can live with it.

The team did Stanley proud tonight. What a great tribute to play like that on this specific night. It would have been fairy tale stuff if Cooks scissor kick had gone in to decide the match. But that should not stop us enjoying what we are seeing. The Marti transformation in full effect!

That was a Cifuentes masterclass. I really hope he will stay for a long time.
Loved the very loud and determined singing of "The Rs are staying up" at the end.
And who needs Colback when we have Field the shield. Sam was everywhere - my MoM!

Yes - it was a shame. Marc Nygaard was unfortunately injured in long spells at his time at QPR. But not a bad striker for such a big man. Sort of Peter Crouch on steroids.
He actually got 7 caps for Denmark. Exactly the same as Lucas Andersen.
That volley really was outrageous and showed that the big man was not without skill.

I am on LFW - Lost For Words. Not one single player today was above average or trying to drag his teammates with him or gee up some kind of attitude. All looked completely lost. So R we all right now. A continuous Millwall meltdown is the last chance we might have now.

Yes - he surely did not look out of place. Its clear to see that he is an experienced head. A former captain. He clearly told Frey where to run and what to do on several occasions. But he is probably not fit to play 90 minutes.

Lucas Andersen SIGNED ???
at 20:11 5 Feb 2024

I was sceptical for a start as Lucas seems a bit over the hill at first sight. But then again - he is not 36 years old and there is definitely a great player hidden in him. That great player might be a bit rusty for a start. But the one and only coach who can reignite his career is surely a certain Mr. Cifuentes. Lucas has praised him on several occasions on Danish telly and the two of them seems to have a special connection. That fact makes me optimistic about his future at QPR. Apart from having a mullet that Gerry Francis will approve he will see this as a great/last chance to restart his career. So I am sure he will go all in on this.
You dont get 7 caps for Denmark if you are completely useless. He can turn out to be surprise package with a good cross in him, quite a bit of flair and he even knows how to handle a dead ball situation. But he also is widely known to be injury prone. That is part of the equation I guess.
I am very much looking forward to see him playing at Loftus Road. Watch out for a Danish flag soon. And please dont call me a tourist. I used to live in Shepherds Bush for years and was a STH and now a bond holder.
Brentford did ok signing quite a few Danes. Why shouldn't we. I hope to see many more in the future.
And finally I want to point out that QPR actually do have a lot of bretheren and sisteren over here. Diehard Scandinavian QPR fans. Probably more than you would expect. You have all seen the Norwegians around Sherpherds Bush and the Swedish R with the flag. In Denmark QPR is also still in high regard among real football fans. It doesnt matter if its Leauge one, championship or whatever. We are here and there and everywhere. URrrrrrsssss!

I just translated the bold.dk article and found an interesting detail. Does the the agent of Lucas Andersen sound familiar to us at QPR?

Lucas Andersen is very close to being in place at QPR.

This is what Mikkel Beck, who is the agent for the 29-year-old offensive player, tells bold.dk.

- Status is good. We have spent the day getting the final details in place, and they are about to be.

- Right now and here, Lucas is doing the medical check-up. It's something that takes three to four hours, and then I'll bet he'll probably be there for a few more hours.

- After that, we are supposed to hopefully sign the contract with QPR.

The article continues after the picture

NordicBet Liga Agent confirms: Lucas Andersen is for a medical check-up

So you are hopeful?

- Absolutely, yes. Nothing has been signed yet, and until it is, things can always go wrong, but we are hopeful, says Mikkel Beck.

It was Tipsbladet that earlier in the day could tell that Lucas Andersen was on his way to QPR.

If the final details fall into place, the main character will leave AaB half a year before the contract expires.

In the current season, Lucas Andersen has recorded 16 matches, two goals and two assists.

I agree that Lucas Andersen to QPR is quite a desperate chance to take. But I guess that is where we are these days. At 29 he seems past his best and is very injury prone. But he used to be quite good and talented. He was part of the Danish U19/21 national team and went to Ajax at a young age but never established himself there. After that he played in Holland and Switzerland. But never really made it to the big scene. In 2019 he went back to his Danish club AAB where he started as a youth player and became their captain.
Bonus info: AAB is the same club that produced Marco Ramkilde and had Marti as head coach in 2021.
When Marti was his coach at AAB in 2021 Lucas Andersen was playing very good. A skillful and creative winger/attacking midfielder. Unfortunately things went wrong at AAB after Marti left in a Beale sort of way. And they went a division down with Lucas Andersen as captain of the sinking ship. Now he struggles to getting into the relegated AAB team in the second best division. So time is up for him in his childhood club.
In other words Lucas Andersen can be a brilliant player on his day and his move to West London seems like a last chance saloon for him. If he graps the chance and avoid injuries he can be quite useful. If gets injured at the first training session he could be the next Ramkilde. But Marti surely knows him very well.
