As an Aussie R, it would be remiss not to add just a small bit on TV's stint as our national manager. He did quite well but memory tainted by failure to qualify for 98 World Cup. It was 1997, 1-1 away draw with Iran in front of about 100k, with young Harry Kewell scoring. Then from 2-0 up, and only with 15 mins to go in return leg in Melbourne, we gave away 2 cheap goals. El Tel made no subs in an effort to shut the game down that night. Always wondered why. I just remember the crestfallen silence. Bad night.
TV then steered Australia to final of Confed Cup later.

Don't quite agree with London and Sinton. Huddersfield good value for the win. Lucky goal sure. But they should have been one up early on. And then, after our goal, the almost complete absence of goal threat from the Rs over the next 80 minutes or so. Richards shot about the only save their keeper had to make, along with one excellent defensive header from another Richards effort. Willock without influence, makes a big difference. And the more Chair tried, the less likely it looked. Quite remarkable. Defensive fragility from set pieces matched with toothless attack. Easily enough for Rs to lose to bottom team. |

Agree with this.
Aussie fan, weekly listener to Open All Rs. Finney's best role is as super passionate fan and panel member. Always enjoyed David's moderation, now think Flo filling this role very well. Lucky to have her.
And while Clive's writing is superior, his ranting is phenomenal. I wished I could have been in a position to buy a ticket to Reading so I could be denied by clowns and then outraged. Great stuff.
And lucky to have this podcast. Hate to lose it. |

Terrific and fair report, as ever thanks Clive. Head in hands at 220am watching opening barrage by Leeds then Rangers resilient.
I must mention one thing however - Freeman. While this was not an easy game to play in for sure, I thought this was by far and away his worst performance. Barely a completed pass, deadball woes, lots of errors and with the last chance of the game, not able to get a corner into the box at all. Perhaps this was the result of all the projectiles aimed at him. Even so, I was really disappointed with him. Hope it was just an off night. |

Early morning watch here in Oz. And what a treat! Quite unexpected I have to say, having waded through some dross this year. What really got me was the crisp accuracy of our passing going forward. We played like other teams seems to have played against us, with urgency and precision. We rarely just kicked it away. And Manning's goal, getting in front of John Terry was just magic.
Listening to the Open All Rs podcast where they were trying not to overhype Eze and the rest was funny - and becomes more challenging as the younger lads put in more great displays. Furlong is terrific, very strong in the air and quick. And Eze is the most exciting player I have seen in an Rs shirt since Taarabt. There, I said it. If we can keep and build a core group of good, experienced professionals around this crop of younger players I think next year could be really fun to watch. |

Just wanted to add to this comment to say how important this site is for me, in Oz, in maintaining my hopeless addiction to the Rs. Goddammit. F'ing 3.40am as the 5th goal goes in! Why do I bother?! But this site helps or feeds my problem - bringing together other addicts. Clive's match analysis and his writing skills are both top notch. LFW, together with the Open All Rs podcast, means that even down here in the Antipodes we can still get a sense of this crazy club. Thanks Clive. |

There is something wrong with the QPR live feed. I can see 11 QPR players way too clearly, most showing little indication of having played before. Well certainly not those attempting to pass anywhere other than to each other in our penalty box. I know it is windy. I know I am cranky cause it is 2am. But for stats, how many completed passes have we made in the opposition half?

I have been using Firefox all the time. No probs there. I have good fast broadband. No probs there. Watched previous games without any hitch. No probs there. I dunno. But not happy given $ paid. Will take up with club directly. |
