Can we get Ki back even if it cost us something,
that would finally be the nail in the coffin for Sunderland
we should not be helping out a team that could be our rival if we go into relegation battle.

Poyet used Ki as a DM initially when Cattermole was on one of his periodic bans. They all loved him in the DM role. Then they played him in AM role and he has been even better, making chances and scoring. He's Poyets favourite I think. He looks happier there than he ever did here.

There is a break clause, but I believe Sunderland will put in a bid. The thing is he's doing so well other clubs may come in too. What if Everton or Chelsea liked the look of him after his performances against them. Maybe the best scenario is a bidding war similar to what happened with DG10 last season, I reckon we can get 8 or 9 million for him in his current form.

I agree with your summary of his form, I don't think we'll get a bidding war going, but we could hold Sunderland to ransom. Ki could be the first player in yonks to go onto better things.

You have to question our entire coaching team in terms of their inability to get the best out of him, or anything out of him.

Fair, although Ki didn't exactly do much to force himself into Laudrup's plans last season.

Precisely. You can't compare last year Ki with this year Ki. Last year he was worn out from playing in the summer plus he was preoccupied with family stuff at home. It was never a question about skills. His focus was elsewhere.

I agree 2face. Ki looks a fine Premiership midfielder at the moment and no way should we consider off loading. JDG is only on loan plus we also have options of using Ki in defence when we are stretched in that area.

Some off-field issues are unfortunate and I have every sympathy for those involved.

Others are self-inflicted and I have none.

I have read that some Sunderland fans have given him good reviews, but of the few times I’ve seen him on T.V. he’s done ok without being anything special.
There’s no guarantee that the form he has at Sunderland would equate to carrying on if he does get a call back in January. Different players in a different system.
All this is irrelevant though if M.L’s comment about not recalling him is true — something along a player playing in a semi-final then not being played would mess the player up

fair point Joe. we don't know if the off field issues affected his game but it was a possibility. if he is over them now then fine. I say let's get him back as he looks as if he can do a job for us at the moment. I also tend to think that Ki is the type of player that needs game time and this is case for saying he did not get a fair crack of the whip when he was here.

Let's not go overboard in the criticism of his performances last season. He put in some superb performances for us on many occasions, particularly in the first few months of the season.

He was nowhere near consistent enough, although it didn't help that Laudrup didn't seem to know where to play him as he was shuffled around the midfield positions and even into defence. Some off-field issues, the odd marriage here and there and living next door to DG10 probably didn't help;)

I know the way this forum malarky works, if I say 'criticism is overboard' it obviously means I think he's better than Messi and should be recalled 5 mins ago...not so, in fact I don't think he'll ever play for us again one way or the other so it's a moot point I guess.

Enjoying the next level

i think we'll sell him for 5 million, then spend that straight away on a striker who can actually score.

i really don't see any of the bottom 3 clubs as 'rivals'....surely we should look at other midtable clubs as rivals.....

man city loaning a player to westbrom is similar to us loaning a player to sunderland.

we are better than them

Those are your words.

I think he did his best balancing family and job. But the pressures from being part of the biggest celebritty wedding in South Korea was probably a bit too much to handle.

Laudrup is right. No way can he bring him back whilst he has a semi final to play. We'll either sell him or see him again next season under a new manager. I imagine it will depend on whether Sundy stay up........and what Kiisgod advises him to do, obviously.

I would love to have ki back right now, after watching him in a attacking role in last 10 mins yesterday he was brilliant, that is what we are missing while Michu is out. Really hope we don't sell him, De Guzman is on loan so if we sell Ki we will be minus 2 quality midfielders at end of season. De Guzman hasn't been as good this season but I thought he was excellent yesterday, he controlled the game.

5 million undervalues him on current form.

Totally agree with that post, even down to the comment about JDG's performance yesterday and I'm no great fan of De Guz to say the least.

If Kiisgod didn't keep popping in saying that he's the best thing since sliced bread then there would probably be a more balanced view on his ability and potential to improve into a solid player at this level.

What are the details of the loan deal? I'm sure that the semis are over before the end of Jan, so could we bring him back after the semis (which Sunderland are odds on to lose)?
