Terrible season 23:49 - Nov 23 with 24183 viewsmarchamjack

10th in the Premier League one place behind Man City. Laudrup out.

Some people on here need to wise up and grow a pair and stop the pathetic moaning ffs. Last few weeks have been embarrassing from some. Only happy when we're not winning. Rant over. Gonna finish my whiskey and go to bed

Talk of relegation shows total lack of any understanding of how good our team is and frankly how poor more than 3 of our rivals are. Fckn muppets.

Oh,..Dave, what's occuring?

100% spot on

I am confident that if we didn't get a result then one eyed fans like the OP would have a different opinion

I am more than happy with the win but I am yet to be convinced we have turned the corner

As I said, some on here are totally embarrassing.

Turned the corner...yes, we'll be above Man City and Liverpool shortly...

Oh,..Dave, what's occuring?

You haven't got a clue, fair play.

What, so we havent barely scraped a point a game since feb?

Im not entirely sure what there is to disagree with. Wasnt it largely just a statement that culminated many facts?

Or was that one of those generic responses when you cant think of anything to say?

It is not a matter of if we win, it is a matter of attitude and commiment on the pitch.

In the last 1,5 month (if you take away the Fulham and Stoke game) it has been below average.

Totally fair to be critical about that.

Did we play that bad against West ham and Southampton then, I don't think so.

Yeah there is theres lots of people expecting it,you want to try being at the Liberty on a matchday its a f*cking joke listening to some.
If we're not Brazil every game some definitely aint happy.

I don't doubt it Darran.

Been around our fans long enough to know what they can be like, however i think its doubtful the reason for the current moaning is because we aren't good in a certain match. Its a culmination of all the bad games since Feb, its the run we have been on rather that us not playing like Brazil every week. Im sure nobody really actually expects that.

But some level of consistency to match the calibre of squad we have can and should be expected and i don't think that is at all unreasonable. Currently nobody can fault the squad or manager as the level of performance and tactics have matched the talent we have. Lets hope it continues.

Well it gives us around 38 points. The target for survival is naturally 40 so its anyones guess whether 38 would keep us up.

However the fact our form for the last 25-30 games sees us amass that sort of tally is the point in itself. Is it good enough to get 17th place with a squad like ours?

Id say not.

We didn't fork out £20m+ in the last transfer window just to survive.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I think many have been abit anoyed being beaten by teams we are better then (we outplayed).

For some reason there has been a lot of personal mistakes in our defense this season. When you consider how strong our back four was last season, I think it come as a surprise to many.

And I do not accept "shit happens". Those personal mistakes are going to be corrected (like we look faaar better on set pieces this season). Guzmans passing yesterday which lead to 1-1 was insanely stupid (and Guzman knows that).

Again I have no problem being outplayed by a better team (but personal mistakes) need to be eliminated on this level.

Yes but we arent playing like that now you said so yourself. The bottom line over 38 games last year we got 47? points. This year we are on target to do the same. Sane statisticians don't pick out all objects that suit their arguments and build a hypothesis around that, they use all the data available. I mean your argument is that we are playing like we were since February, but we clearly aren't. We beat WBA away, Valencia away. We are unpredictable yes, but not uniformly toothless or gutless. We can score goals and we can ship goals. Its is pure folly for you to select 6 months out of the football season and assume that we will continue to play that way ALL season. My argument is this.... IF we did, a big IF, then we may well stay up anyway and that doesn't signify poor performance IN MY BOOK.

Its not irrelevant though is it. Those players hadn't even featured much this season either. The core of our squad is the same as it was last year. Only recently with the Pozuelo and Bony partnership has it had a different feel to it and its worked. What has confused some is why were we sticking with things that werent working for so long. We are twice the side with Bony in it.

And thats exactly why i said nobody can have any complaints at the moment.

However prior to the last two games we had been playing well below what we are capable of and had the form not changed (which it hadnt for around 30 games) then the sort of 38 point 18th/17th finish we are currently hypothesising over was very much a reality and people were rightly concerned.

Its easy to sit here now and say "what were you worried about" but there have been very concerning signs on and off the field for the best part of a year now.

However to think form of a point a game is acceptable is a bit terrifying given the squad we have.

There you go again, ignoring the plain facts that ruin your argument. THINGS HAVE CHANGED. If we project the performance of the last 6 months (ignoring all defeats and draws) we will win the league. Hows that for a positive news story.

But i havent ignored any wins. The bad form clearly started after the Newcastle match the week after lifting the cup.

Since february, the last 30 games, we have been well below average. I dont understand what is difficult to understand about that.

Prior to the last 2 games we have continued in this vain. That seems like a perfectly reasonable trend to me and a perfectly reasonable cause for concern.

If you were going to buy a striker who scored 30 last term and then 1 the next... would it be fair to think there is concern behind the form of the last 25 games or would you think that 31 in 2 seasons is good so sign him up for top dollar?

how can our form for the last 30 games be below average when its our form that defines what "average" is. Surely that is our normal form?

Form doesn't have to be points, form can be performances.

We set our standards for the previous season and a half. We very much determined what our form should be.

We haven't lived up to it for much of the calendar year. Im not entirely sure what you are confused about. Are you saying we have been excellent since feb then?
