Refs Favour Certain Clubs - Holloway 18:53 - Aug 18 with 3117 viewsJack_Russell

It's great to have him back, because he tells it like it is.
Brilliant quote:
"It's going to be a long hard season for me with these people"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23748851

Saw it yesterday with us.

Referee Phil Dowd to Ryan Giggs after Giggs challenged him on every 50/50 ball where a manure player ended up on the deck.
"Free kick to you Ryan OK?"

Referee Phil Dowd to Phil Jones after Jones continued to chase him after we had a corner with Jones irate about a missed hand ball decision 2 moves previous.
"Sorry Phil, missed it, but I'll make up for it in a couple of minutes"

Proper decision should have been:
"Look you two, neither of you is captain, so have a yellow card for harassing me all the time"

Law 12 extract
Players must not 'talk back', or verbally abuse the referee, or other game officials.
Queries must be directed through the team captain or coach.

Sorry, but it's one rule for the big Sky Sports teams and another for the rest of us.
Ollie is dead right!

To be fair my biggest criticism of us even under Jackett was that we were never street wise enough. We never talk to the referee enough on things such as time wasting and niggly fouls

The sooner Ian Hollowhead goes back to the Championship the better.

Yep...I agree we're not streetwise enough. Having no penalties awarded last year says that maybe we're just a bit too honest.

Thanks for your knowledgeable contribution Darran.
Go on, back to your Playstation now, it's nearly time for bed.

Even little things like walking past the ref and politely saying "time ref" - you don't have to have bulging veins to get the ref on side

Holloway is a clown and there was nothing wrong with the challenge on Dobbie.

Thought Dowd was poor yesterday, big teams are always going to get the rub of the refs as they don't want the media attention that goes with sticking up to them.

""Although I cannot promise or predict the future, I can guarantee one thing - the current board of directors will always fight, as we have done over the last 12 years, to work together as one with the Supporters Trust to make 100% sure that Swansea City football club remains the number one priority in all our thoughts and in every decision we make."

He wasn't 'telling it like it is', he was getting his excuses in early. Holloway is a prick, plain and simple. If the situations were reversed, he would have said the challenge on Dobbie was fair and the penalty was stonewall.

As for Dowd, I don't remember any particularly bad decisions at the game, although I admit I haven't watched any highlights. Far too many of our fans are like Holloway, looking for any excuse when we don't win a game. Maybe we should just accept that Man United outplayed us on the day and pick ourselves up for Thursday?

You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help.
