Redknapp on 16:24 - May 14 by QPR1882 | My mistake I thought this post was about the errors Arry has made, and sadly there have been quiet a few. We have covered MH and his obvious errors, he's gone now blob, let him go,you will feel so much better. Will also allow you to take off your anti MH blinkers and see what a poor, poor job Arry is doing, quiet a few on here have taken theirs off,and if the pub I was in on Sunday is anything to go by quiet a few QPR fans not on here have as we'll. |
speaking to a spurs fan recently he said, harry takes all the credit but never the blame and many spurs fans were glad he went! there...look back at interviews with us and it's never "i sent them out, set them up and it failed"
Redknapp on 16:45 - May 14 with 1270 views | adhoc_qpr | Harry Redknapp would have had to win 50% of his games from the position we were in to stay up, bearing in mind Sunderland could still go down on 39 points! WBA in 8th have only won 14 games, we could probably have need to win 12 from 25 games with an unbalanced squad, rife with infighting and crippled by injuries to the forward line. All these people saying he had 75 points to play for need a reality check! Yes he could have made a better fist of it and yes his recent comments and teams selections have been shockers, but don't kid yourselves this wasn't a huge ask.
Redknapp on 16:55 - May 14 with 1261 views | DylanP | I don't understand what Rednapps is trying to achieve. I thought his transfers were pretty good. Our best players in the second half of this season have basically been Townsend and Remy. I can't think of anyone else (maybe Hill). I've also thought that Samba has been valuable. But his team selection has been quesitonable (to be charitable) and his use of substitutes frustrating (again, I'm being charitable). He seems to be resigned to defeat each week and only makes changes when forced to by injury or in the 88th minute. The season is in the toilet and he is playing MBia ahead of Taarabt and Zamora ahead of Mackie. And so on. MBia has been awful. Zamora has been awful. On the other hand, Adel always pushes forward and looks liable to spark something and Mackie has proven that, off the bench, he can make a difference. For those two to be sitting on the bench week after week when we are looking so terrible and rarely look like scoring is just madness.

Redknapp on 17:06 - May 14 with 1254 views | QPR_Jim | I don't think anyone is under any illusions about Redknapps performance. Either way you cut it, whether you think we were down before Christmas or "savable" when HR took over, you'd expect us to be finishing above Reading come what may. The difference is where to proportion the blame and looking forward the real issues are what needs to be done and whether HR is the best manager available for that job. For me the blame lies mainly with Hughes, he put together the squad Redknapp inherited and was responsible for 80% of the squad HR had after January. Also I think he deepened divisions between an already divided dressing room with more big-name signings over the summer. If they weren't all MH's signings he should have addressed this issue with TF and explained the problems with our transfer strategy, we know from ST issue TF does listen to advice. Same can be said for Harry over the Remy and Samba signings although that strikes me as more off a roll of the dice rather than a strategy. HR's performance still hasn't been of an acceptable level, he did get the players working better as a team, but only while there was still hope. He's been unable/unwilling to inspire us to victory after the Wigan game. Looking to next season we need a massive clear out over the summer, all the over paid players can go, all the uninterested players can join them and the likes of Hulse can be shown the door as well. We need to replace those players with mainly younger, hungry players but all of or signings need to be model professionals willing to train hard and work hard for the club. Redknapp, for all his faults, does seem to be good at getting players out the door as well as in the door. He's reputation may make players want to come here without being bribed with bumper pay packets. His contacts may help shift unwanted players to far away (unsuspecting) shores, as we have already seen with Cisse and Ferdinand. So I'd keep him here over the summer, but wouldn't be too sorry to see him leave before Christmas.

It was a tough ask, but 'Arry should have been able to make more of a fist of it. Reputation tarnished, and he's trying to divert blame. Simple.

Yes, but it's still mostly Hughes team, he's sending out to play. Until HR can get rid of (most) Hughes signings, he probably feels justified in making excuses. We have played better since his arrival, but because of our unbalanced squad, we are still the worse team in the Premiership.

Why does anyone mentioning the 75 points to play for need a reality check ? since Arry has taken over we have played 12 games against teams who were fighting down the bottom, thats a possible 36 points against teams we really needed to take points off. we took 12. Stoke,Villa,Reading,Newcastle ( could and should have been ),Wigan have all been 6 pointers in the last few weeks. we took 2

Redknapp on 17:51 - May 14 with 1161 views | PhilmyRs | An easy one to analyse... Was Hughes a major disappointment creating an unbalanced squad, poor team spirit and more importantly breaking the premier league record for not winning a game? Undoubtedly yes. Is Hughes more to blame for relegation than Harry? Yes When Harry took over did you expect him to pick up more points than he has? Yes Has Harry’s reputation improved or got worse since taking over? Clearly worse. Has Harry’s recent team selections disappointed? Yes. Is Harry’s ‘always someone else’s fault’ line starting to irritate? Yes Taking all the above into account, does Harry deserve to be sacked? Of course not. In my view the biggest mistake a team can make is replacing a manager on getting relegated. We did it with Wilkins and shouldn’t have, give Harry the first 15 games of next season as a minimum. But make no mistake , Harry’s stock has fallen since taking over and he has to begin rebuilding his reputation. Next season he won’t have anyone else to blame.

Can't disagree with most of that ( would question Arrys team selection for a while now not just recently ), would give Arry 10 games at most next year to prove himself. Can't make the same mistake 3 seasons on the trot.

Agree with that. The problem is if it doesn't work out a new manager will have so many different layers of different managers' players to deal with we will be in a truly dreadful position. On the other hand, if we are doing badly after 15 games the way the Championship works you could still get auto promotion. 1 other point to consider is whether TF & co are more savvy now and won't put up with unacceptable management like they did with Hughes. They won't want to be seen as trigger happy, but neither will they make the same mistake of burying their head in the sand hoping things come right. I think they are in a very difficult situation which could go either way. We have to stick with Harry, but the best thing in my view would be for Harry to get poached by another club and us appoint someone younger with potential, eg Poyet.

Redknapp on 23:07 - May 14 with 1029 views | kensalriser | No question for me that Redknapp's tactics and team selections have not been good. A small improvement when he arrived but in recent weeks we've gone back to being as bad as earlier in the season. It 's hard to escape the feeling though, that whoever the manager, whatever the team, or any other variable, we've been crap all season long.

Redknapp on 23:10 - May 14 with 1024 views | daveB | i think Redknapp did a decent job and had us competitive until after the Wigan game, we were a little unlucky in a few games but always in with a chance. Since then the white flag has come out and his interviews and team selection have left me feeling pretty uninspired by him, he seems like a man who is looking for a way out to me. The club have obviously decided to back him and stick with him but i'm not very confident he is going to get it right this summer

Redknapp on 10:34 - May 15 with 919 views | canaryfan | I'll preface my contribution with the realisation this is purely an unbiased view from an outsider, who is a genuine football fan, and really enjoys this forum. I also appreciate this isn't really any of my business and I have no in depth knowledge about his team selections etc so won't attempt to comment on those. However, two things. Firstly, a common thread running through a lot of posts is the desire for young, hungry players who will die for the shirt. I can't stand the greedy, mercenary side of football, and a part of me wonders if HR hasn't been portrayed as tainted by that at previous clubs. Secondly, I have a great deal of time and respect for TF. He will stick with a man, whether he be the right one for the job, and rightfully give him time. So HR will get a chance to turn it all round. I hope he gets rid of the mercenaries and the poisonous element (Barton) and gets some character in. You could do worse than making a bid for Simeon Jackson from us. A thoroughly decent professional, great attitude and desire, pace to burn and his goals (I think 9 in the last 7) got us promoted with you boys. Anyway, good luck for next season.

Redknapp on 16:06 - May 15 with 853 views | Gloucs_R | Harry being a bit more positive here.... Harry confessed: “I am very confident that I will put a very good team together by the start of next season. I am very confident I can do that, it’s the aim. I’m quite excited by it actually. “Andrew Johnson is looking sharp in training and Bobby [Zamora] is getting better so without even going outside of the squad that is a big plus in my opinion. “With the right additions, and I have some in mind, we could have a fantastic team next year who will take all the beating in the Championship. “I took over at Portsmouth that had finished in the bottom five places three years running, built a new team in the first year and walked away with the league. We had a great attitude and we worked our socks off and we have to build the same thing here.” Redknapp though doesn’t agree that Rangers will be a target for other teams because of their previous Premier League status. Sides’ wanting to beat QPR next season because of their perceived big billing is something that is not concerning the experienced manager. “I don’t think we are there to be shot at,” he said. “The League is full of quality, if you look at the Championship there are a lot of big clubs. We will be going to play Leeds United, one of the great clubs in world football a few years ago. “There are only three teams that haven’t been in the Premier League since it started. It is a division full of top clubs so QPR are not all of a sudden the big club in that league. It’s not a concern.” Read more at http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/150513-harry-its-a-lonely-existence-823649.asp
