Falsley accused of train fare evasion 22:01 - Jun 29 with 3108 views | GaryPenrice | Received a letter today from London Overground ordering me to cough up 125 quid or see them in court in two weeks. I'm not overly worried as I can prove my whereabouts on the day of the alleged incident, however it does make me wonder how my details got into to their hands. Is it a simple case of someone giving false details to a inspector? This is the only realistic scenario I can think of. I have never used a registered Oyster card and never travel on the route they say I dodged the fare on. I know it's a weird thing to post but I'm struggling to find any info online about this kind of situation. Would really appreciate any help anyone could give me. Cheers.

They would normally only check the address given to them. If you can prove it's not you all will be ok but as usual you will lose out on time, work etc to probably attend court. Insist on CCTV evidence too although most stations only keep CCTV for two weeks, then it's wiped out automatically. Make sure it is all cleared up though as these things can lead to other things ie non payment of fines, CCJ's etc that get stuck in the system. Good luck

Falsley accused of train fare evasion on 22:47 - Jun 29 with 2996 views | loftboy | About twenty years ago I received a fine I knew nothing about, trotted off to the court office to sort it out and was told " it's a no bail warrant go with this gentleman" I was promptly put in the cells untill a space was available to see me in court, eventually I explained and had to sign an afra David (sp) unfortunately the court had to send out for one, so the magistrate said he famous words " take him back down" they left the cell door open this time but I received no apology and after several hours was ready to confess to anything.
