How do you know we didn't enquire about him, Taz? That said, it is a strange move. Possibly this was the player Coleman was talking about when he said we missed out on a player.

Maybe so but it could of been Bobby Grant he were refering to but this is probably the strangiest transfer to modern day football and the question is why didnt hill send him to spotland? http://www.bradfordcityfc.co.uk/page/News/0,,10266~2661731,00.html [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

I'm guessing it was Dagnall mentioned in that interview. Just my opinion but I'd bet he wanted to come here but was advised to drop to league 2 where he's more likely to succeed and regain confidence.

Because we tried to pinch his Assistant Manager?

Chris Dagnall on 17:08 - Mar 16 with 1925 views | ColDale | I very much doubt that Hill has prevented Daggers coming back to Rochdale, especially for reasons out of spite or pettiness. If I was to hazard a guess as to why Daggers has gone Bradford instead of us it will be because two years at Scunny has robbed him of his confidence and dropping to a lower level could see him score a hatful between now and the end of the season.

I'd agree. I wouldn't mind betting that Hill has been surprised at how 'out of form' Daggers is, and feels that he will fare better against a League 2 defender than in League One, where he has hardly set the world alight since joining Scunny. I genuinely hope the move works out for Daggers, because on his day, he is a delight to watch.

I couldn't give two sh1ts how he does and frankly Div4 is his level he has done nothing at any other level since.

Chris Dagnall on 18:55 - Mar 16 with 1685 views | SFD | Once again this proves the point that the players who got us promoted and did so well under KH and DF were playing for them nothing to do with the club, hence why the likes of COG wanted out so quickly.

Not to mention COG being offered TREBLE his wages. Same job, different employer, bigger crowds, better prospects. I know what I'd have done if I was COG. It was a 'no-brainer', regardless of how much he enjoyed being at Spotland.

Everybody pays more money than us but the presence of the manager very much has a say on players wanting to play for a club, very few give two sh1ts which club it is.

Maybe Hill thought he was doing Dale a favour by not sending him here. Since his hat-trick against Grimsby on 27 March 2010, Dagnell has scored 9 goals in 77 league appreances. His last goal was 19 matches ago. Had he come to Dale, I can't see where he would have slotted in. Upfront with the non-scoring Symes? Instead of Grimes? Upfront with Grimes? Wide instead of Adams? Maybe he would have rediscovered his form of two years ago, but I think signing him would have been a gamble (speaking of which, the bookies fancy Dale tomorrow - the Biffoes are 5/2 against a win, Dale 11/10 and 23/10 the draw).
Chris Dagnall on 21:11 - Mar 16 with 1481 views | Clivert | I just think that if we start playing Grimes alongside Symes then we'll be more of a threat going forward and may start to look like picking up some of the 3 points that we need from games now. How that would effect the more solid look through the team that JC has brought in I don't know?

Well Daggers grew up on Merseyside, playing for Tranmere and probably supporting Liverpool or Everton. He spent a couple of years here scoring goals. Why on earth should that make him care about the club? If it was the other way round and I'd gone and scored some goals for Tranmere, it wouldn't make me give a toss about the club, I'd be playing well for my own future and prospects, not for Tranmere Rovers. Same with Daggers and most players. We just infect a couple of them i.e. Gary Jones.

Dagnall spent the most successful part of his career at Dale and we nursed him through a major injury - he must have fond memories of his time here? So he'd rather go to Bradford in a division below or go back to the club where he was one of our promotion heroes and score goals which may save us from relegation and become a hero 2nd time round? Seems a strange choice to me - especially with some massive games coming up - Bradford are mid table certs with nothing to play for.

But without actually speaking to Dagnall, Hill or Parkinson, we have no knowledge at all of whether he even got the chance to come back here. It says in today's Ob that Grant was the player Coleman was trying to bring here, so all talk about Dagnall preferring Bradford over us is futile without actual evidence.
