it does beg the question where does this leave Chris Beech?

It does him no favours both in terms of confidence in his own position and in the mindset of his playing staff who will look upon him knowing that he's there because nobody else could be attracted to the job. Insisting on a manager's assistant would be like insisting on a particular player being in the team. It's interference from the boardroom which is completely unfamiliar with our board.
