Swansea City v West Bromwich Albion : Match day thread 02:07 - Jan 3 with 13727 viewsModeratorC

Welcome to the Luke Williams derby. The game where he will take charge of the Swans in the first half and the Baggies in the second. And then hopefully feck off with them up the M5 šŸ‘

Watch a replay of our goal and the celebrations , HD needs pegging down and now.!

I saw his reaction when we scored the winner v Luton (I think) where he was slapping the ground on his knees with joy. Was this much the same?

Donā€™t doubt it, Liam said it seems so too. However, he also states they are there to support the team/ club. He also stated that many were just stood there with folded arms etc.

Iā€™m still disgusted with how this has all panned out.

He must have been looking at me with my folded arms. We were there to support the club but it was flat until we scored, it was like a dentists waiting room. It was freezing but there was no real support, a really strange game, are we just waiting for him to balls up?

Agree about being disgusted with the way this week has gone. IMO Williams has tried to dig himself out of a hole when he realised he was not going to get the job. When West Brom appoint a manager I would like to see Coleman put Williams on gardening leave, no need to pay him off, WBA don't get someone for free and we can move on and appoint a manager who wants to be here.

Many saying Iā€™m the WBA forum that we are very poor and the worst side theyā€™ve played all season. Hard to argue against I suppose.

Were they tired or just not motivated today? Only Darling showed any zip and Iā€™ve said that that may be for personal reasons. He certainly would be better captain material than Grimes who has got to be the least motivational skipper in the league. And he was poor today as well.

Iā€™m still firmly in the LW out camp and sooner the better. We need a manager who can fit these square pegs into the right shape holes. Also, to do practice ground drills with overlapping full backs. Ronald didnā€™t beat his man all game. Get Key running past him and get crosses in.

They go on about the worst team in the league
In many ways we are
Certainly the most boring
Our home crowd says it all,or doesnā€™t really.
It is a painful watch
Grimes the omnipotent, the irreplaceable ,the root cause of most of our issues on the pitch
Why? Because he is still doing what he did under Russ. Sideway, backwards . Itā€™s horrific .
We should ask ourselves how he gets away with it all the time .

Vig has been getting worse under Lukey after a great start. He made some good saves today, but shouldnā€™t have been beaten for their goal. Itā€™s basic stuff.
He seems lost when looking for somebody to kick the ball too. This is coaching.AGAIN .
We simply have no idea as to attack

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Vigouroux played better today and made two excellent saves down to his right to keep us in the game. His distribution was also better.

Overlapping full backs the good old days of Rangel, Davis, Dyer and Routledge. Happy memories and suited our style.

We did see a plan B today from Vig, something Iā€™ve not seen in a long while. What do they call it, a goal kick I think. No passing sideways to Darling or Key, just belted down the ground. Maybe LW is learningšŸ˜‚

LW says
"I think we deserved a draw. I don't think there was a huge amount in the game either way. Both teams looked very tired but I think we were value for a point.

"Liam [Cullen] has played a lot of minutes and he was starting to look tired, the pitch is heavy, and he'd just started to lose his energy, and Joey Allen is a special player.

"Some players are a full-back or a winger or a midfielder, and some are just footballers. Joe Allen is just a footballer. He knows how to handle himself in all different scenarios. He can understand things at a very high level."

Odd quote from him considering that Williams clearly can't tell the difference between a winger and a midfielder.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I just felt he should have corrected himself the very next day, if it needed correction. For me it just smacks of trying to dig yourself out of a hole when you realise you are not getting the job. Purely my opinion of course.

Itā€™s not just your opinion. Itā€™s mine and Iā€™d imagine lots of others too. I hope this doesnā€™t get swept under the carpet. Big test for Coleman.

That was probably the least ā€˜Luke Williamsā€™ performance Iā€™ve seen this season. Probably because Christie isnā€™t trusted to play triangles out from the back. We lumped it clear at lot more today.

When we did try to play intricate football, we made a lot more mistakes than usual. Their goal came from miscommunication between Cullen and I think Franco. Grimes lost it a few times, not in especially dangerous positions, but he doesnā€™t have the pace to recover when he gets turned over.

I thought most of our team looked jaded. Others can afford to rotate, we canā€™t. Grimes, Cullen and Key looked particularly knackered. Only Darling and Franco had really good games IMO.

Lucky to get away with that if Iā€™m honest.

Although we were absolutely sh1te today - that's 3 extra points we've taken in the 90+ minute in the last 2 home games.

Makes a massive change from us throwing points away in the 90+ minutes!!

Iā€™d use this game to try out some of the fringe players who are the future and maybe some experience - Naughton, Allen etc. to give them game time. Have some first teamers on the bench but rest as many as they can. I personally donā€™t care about the cup. Iā€™d rather us be fit and ready for the next league game. Who are we playing by the way?šŸ˜

What is really annoying is we didn't find or even try to the channels into the gaps between the centre half and the full back in the box that caused so much problems to QPR, it was a very nip and tuck game but we had to do some determined defending Darling obviously the stand out defender.
Like how Key, Franco and Ronald are creating space on the right even with the slower ball from Christie, that trio are still have a way to go in becoming a force to be reckoned with but it is getting better, final balls or crosses still need work on to cause more of a problem for the opposition.

And yet the goal and similarly to the one against Luton came from the testing ball high into box from the left.

Find it strange how we do the little short balls in ridiculously tight situations instead of just putting the ball into the space beyond oncoming opposition players even when the space has been created we persist in playing to feet and with the exception of some rare cases end up getting closed down and yet do not play the short balls into the box.

Up front but numerous runs are being made but not acted upon usually by the time they are the runners have drifted offside. We played enough high balls but didn't get players around our player challenging in the air when we did it caused them problems.

One of the front runners from the West Brom job is out of the race.

It was a good point today Joe Allen is a legend.

Lukeā€™s tactical change at the death was the factor of us getting this point.
I still think he is going to end up there .

Iā€™d be happy to write that game off.

How many of our players were running on empty today? Iā€™d say at least half, probably more.

Grimes will always want to play, but has been off his best for about a month. Cullen looked wrecked as well.

We canā€™t afford to rotate in the league, we can in the cup.

I hope so Rhondda.

People will have to accept that whoever replaces Williams will face the same squad depth handicap that he has all season and has never been more obvious than today.

Honestly think heā€™s a dead man walking after he crossed Coleman though.

I donā€™t mind our managers being ambitious and I would expect them to have their head turned by PL clubs or the likes of Leeds and Sheffield United.

To bend over for West Brom and disrespect the club while doing it though, is way too much.
