January Outs 20:24 - Jan 1 with 3440 viewsPdog

Whislt we’ve already brought one player in and recognise the need for further reinforcements, budget permitting. But what about our current players who would benefit from getting more game time elsewhere:

WALSH - Needs to be on loan getting games, good enough for L1 starter. Send him out with 24hr emergency recall clause so if Nardi does one we have him back. Not going to develop on the bench or by just playing 2-3 games in a season. Future No.1 but needs more experience.

EDB - Another one that needs games. 24 yrs old with only 28 games under his belt. There could be something there, but he needs regular minutes to unlock it and regain confidence. Currently benched and seemingly out of contention, he looks broken and needs a reset.

SANTOS - A loan up north in L1 should toughen him up. Make or break him.

LLOYD - More of a 1st-teamer than the others, but with Kolli emerging, Frey back, and Celar close, his chances in the lone striker role look slim. While he offers value as a wide option or a bench player, really needs games to develop.

Anderson has to be the first cab on the rank - he’s totally shot.

Celar would be another I’d out but with his injury he’s going nowhere and I think we’re stuck with him

Ashby I’d send back if we have identified a player to come in

Likewise, sad to say Kenny Paal should go IF we have one or maybe two LWBs up our sleeved. I like him myself but he’s getting more and more casual and wants away. It’ll be tough to get a fee for him.

One of Madsen or Colback can also go for variety of reasons

All of these outs would really need to be balanced by ins and too many changes this time of the season risks being very unsettling. A bit like the summer again.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

I believe Andersen and Colback will be released this Summer.
Celar, allegedly, has been offered to Werder Bremen. They are unsure as he's still injured.

Loans for Walsh, EDB and Santos would be a sound move.

As much as I like the idea of sending Santos to some old mining town and him coming back three stone heavier smoking 30 a day and killing wingers for a laugh I can’t see it. At best we might be able to send him back where he came from.

Andersen and Madsen should be gone of we can somehow get rid of them (just have to cut our losses on Madsen unfortunately).

With the 2 goals Celar got just before injury, I'm more intrigued than anything to see how he gets on now. Couple of quality finishes, which surprised pretty much everyone I think (so he stays).

Agree about sending Santos and Walsh on loan (although i'm not sure many clubs would agree to a recall clause with such short notice).

EDB is an odd one as think he's good enough to get game time from the bench, but Marti clearly doesn't fancy him.

Paal should go if we get an offer for him (presuming we haven't got plans to extend his contract) and Madsen should go as he is total rubbish and League 2 standard at best.

Celar i'd like to see given a chance. I truly believe his issue is confidence which he was just starting to regain prior to injury.

Anderson and Colback will stay as depth and be gone in the summer.

With the amount of injuries we have I doubt anyone will be going out this month.

Of the four mentioned in the thread, they’ll all be on the lowest wages and loaning out won’t make any of those better players.

As for Walsh, Nardi has been on the deck a few times lately, we don’t want to get caught out if the worse happens.

Walsh will play the Leicester cup game unless he gets injured beforehand, can't see him going out. If we get to April and are safe I expect he'd get more minutes then too.

I wouldn't be loaning out Walsh at all. Nardi has been on the deck recently, but yesterday, he was simply feigning that he had been impeded when Watford scored a valid goal from the corner.

Arsenal have infringed and fouled goalkeepers far worse in corner situations, than anything Watford did to Nardi. We got away with it yesterday and Nardi needs to come up with a more convincing counter measure than going to the ground when barely touched by an opposing player.

Luton will test him sternly in such situations on Monday, I'm sure, as that moment will not have gone unnoticed by future opponents.

I fear that we could lose Walsh at the end of the season because for mine, he's already as good as a number of goalkeepers in this league and deserves more game time, which he won't get here.

Rumours circulating Celar wants out. Can anyone put more meat on the bone?

I wouldn’t read much into it but the Twitter yoof say he put out some Insta messages to suggest otherwise.

Ashby was fantastic yesterday - if he can perform like that consistently, then he's definitely worth keeping.

EDB not getting any minutes I still find an odd one.

Always looked neat and tidy I thought when he's played, gets on the front foot with the ball.

Thought he'd be a Marti type player. Apparently not.

If we can get any money for Madsen this month I'd take it

Agree, he really needs to show something in the Leicester cup game to save his season. If indeed selected.

Ha!

But yes playing full games in League 1/2 would help him get up to speed in the English game.

I read somewhere that Mahoney (now Cooper) maybe recalled from his loan at Stevanage where apparently he's made 22 appearances. If true Walsh could be off on loan or perhaps sold.

Didn't the whistle go before the ball entered the net?

EDB needs to be sold. If he was going to make it then he would have done by now. He is no longer a prospect at 24. Masden and Santos, unfortunately, would be difficult to loan out at the moment for any meaningful money. A recall for Mahoney and loan for Walsh wouldn't be the worst of ideas.

I mean, it seems a pretty bizarre rumour

Celar has been atrocious for us, barring one game. And beyond the lack of goals, he’s done so little- no hold up play, can’t run the channels, doesn’t link up particularly well

It’d be one thing if the rumours linked him to a second division German team- but does anyone think that the 7th place in bundesliga would want this guy?

Well before. Classic Championship refereeing trick of realising you’ve given a corner wrongly so give a cheap free kick.

That and the clear shoulder charge as the ball entered the 18 yard box

Rather than getting rid of anyone (our injuries should make it obvious why that would be a terrible idea), I do agree that some of our younger players would benefit from experience z especially if they can get it in League 1. Walsh, Lloyd, EDB and Santos coming back with half a season of regular experience would be huge for us - much more useful than the occasional bit of cover they might provide here. Any permanent departures can wait until the summer.
