It's really down to how much the sponsorship is worth .

The one that made me smile in the Briatore era was 'official time partner' (or something like that.)

Is this for ffp or for a small war chest for Marti?

I'll happily sponsor £50 every home goal we score.

I'd be down at least a tonne by now if i did it from August

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

As long as this is them getting smart and not frantically scrabbling around because they know they're over FFP then it is, belatedly, welcome news. Other clubs take the pis.

I suspect there'll be some more announcements like this to come.

Being a glass half full grump, I assume that we were the wrong side of the line and these deals are parting gifts from AB and RG to fund resolving the Ainsworth appointment, enable a few freebies of MC’s choice and put us slightly the right side.

My thoughts are a bit of both

A few cheap and shrewd buys from Sweden would be handy come January

If they were planning on getting Marti in the first place then it makes sense to add some funding now.

What a week.

They've really taken my moans about having to come up with angles for 48 match previews a season to heart.

Years ago, the official match day programme used to publish the names of those who sponsored various parts of players’ kits. I know as I was once a sponsor and it culminated in a meet the players “day/evening” at the club’s training ground where you got that particular piece of kit. Does this still happen? I ask as I no longer buy a programme and wondered whether it may have had something to do with data protection?
I know we’re not talking mega bucks here (or left bollocks) but, as one major retailer states, “every little helps”.

Yes they do. Whole player sponsorship, costs about £500. Evening meetup at the end of the season to meet all the players, chat, get autographs, etc.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

"QPR's first substitution, sponsored by Nandos, give your appreciation to [insert player name] and welcome on to the pitch [insert player name]!"

"QPR's first goal, sponsored by Maryland Chicken..."

No, hold on.

"The opposition's third goal, brought to you by The Queens Tavern..."

Often wondered how advertisers track the success of these types of sponsorships ? I.e does it improve revenue or is it just a tax write off?

I reckon it's the latter. Although when Danny Tickle kicked the goals at Hull FC he was sponsored by The Starr Inn and Stables Bistro so you'd hear that seven or eight times a game and eventually it ingrained enough in us to go there for a meal which was... alright.
