Who wants to see this? Shame on the BBC 10:31 - Aug 21 with 2540 viewsblambo

The BBC Sport Football scores and fixtures page has started listing the Saudi league.
(See Thursday's fixtures).
Why?
who wants to follow the fortunes of a bunch of mercenaries?

You just have to love the BBC. Hypocritical to the core.

All professional football players (cricketers, hockey players, basketball players) are mercenaries. They all play for money and not because of the colour of the shirt.

Whether we like it or not, the Saudi regime has bought a place on the BBC and I'm sure that pressure has been applied so that the next big arms shipment to them will be paid for.

The FA and the EPL are gutless mercenaries with no loyalty beyond money and they are the real culprits here.

Got to love the BBC. Their golf correspondent, Ian Carter, has got a hard-on for LIV golf as well.

I don’t trust the Saudis one bit. My opinion is somewhat formed by my dad’s military posting to Aden in the 60s.

I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them. Is their anyone out there who thinks their buying of sports is a good thing, apart from those getting paid?

I worked in Yemen in the early nineties, with good hard working people who didn't like saudis....it
was always amusing travelling back to London through Bahrain on Gulf Air. They came across the 'causeway' from saudi into Bahrain and boarded the fight with their women in full arab dress, faces covered etc. After about 30 minutes in the air down came the women two by two to the toilets and remerged two by two in miniskirts etc and straight onto the booze with the men, and as obnoxious as you like to the crew and other passengers.
Seen more than one saudi get his nose splattered at Heathrow after getting off that flight. Tempted myself more than once....

I spent time in Saudi, Bahrain in the mid-1980's during The Iran-Iraq War when my Type 42 destroyer used to escort safe passage to European oil tankers through the narrow Straits of Hormuz and onwards up to the huge oil terminals there.

Me and the lads used to drink occasionally in the big Western hotels there and pay through the nose for a pint! The bar was always busy with Saudi businessmen who drank a pint like a fish before quickly slipping out through a back door unnoticed. More faces than a town hall clock...

They may act polite, but they look on us as prostitutes, it is just a matter of the price. They have been doing this for decades, and there is, apparently, a willing supply of tartlettes to the Middle East. I will never, ever set foot in Dubai.
