In that case, goal involvements and types of goals scored in a team playing that style aren’t really relevant. He’d have more chances in this team. Ayew and Obafemi would have been a great partnership IMO
Of course it’s relevant, Ayew is a poacher that works hard tracking back into midfield and the flanks. He’s not a natural striker.
So for a team that goes nowhere near the 18 yard box, why would we want our main attacking threat to be someone who feeds off scraps in and around an area we rarely frequent?
I think you are just being argumentative. It makes no sense and I’m sure you know that.

Honestly, I don’t come on here just to argue. If I agree with something you or anyone else says, I rarely bother to comment.
Had Obafemi not turned out the way he did off the pitch, don’t you think he’d have had a hatful with Ayew behind him? Not just him, Cooper, Ntcham, Paterson, whoever you play in attacking midfield positions would have far more space with Ayew buzzing around the final third.

But he did turn into the way he did.
Piroe has nearly the same amount of assists as Ayew did, but in about 30 games less.

A poacher that tracks back and gets involved in the midfield on on the wings? That really doesn't fit the definition of a poacher.
Goals aren't everything unfortunately and just scoring goals isn't enough to win games and get us into the promotion hunt. It's worth noting that Piroe has a much higher expected goals than Ayew, so logically he would score more being a decent finisher.
You clearly value goals, whereas others and myself value a bit more of an all round game as more important.

Have you noticed every time you give an answer, the goalposts move in the reply Jack ? You answer one thing, the reply comes he was asking for something else.

There's a solution to that conundrum, a simple one at that, I'll leave you and other's to do the maths.

It doesn’t, that’s why he’s not a striker. He’s a wide forward, but when you shove him in the box he becomes a poacher, an indisciplined poacher that runs himself into the ground.
Again, a third of his goals are from within the 6 yard box, another third from penalties. He’s a poacher… but a hard working one.
Wouldn’t fit in this side, it would be horrific,
As I said, Piroe nearly as many assists in about 25 less games.

If I tried to list all the times you move the goalposts it be the longest post ever on here. As for this nonsense about trolling, I was actually talking to another poster ? So it is you that "trolled" me ? Enjoy your morning

I didn’t ask you to name all the times you claimed it happened, I made it super easy for you and asked you to point out this specific instance that you suggested (lied) about. It’s literally a few posts up, shouldn’t be too difficult.
If not, I’ll assume it was trolling.

78.4% agree.
My faith is slowly getting restored with these polls that the argumentative minority is just that.
Disagreeing with you isn’t being argumentative. There’s no need to take it that way.
For balance, I agree with you that Martin is underachieving spectacularly, we should be playing more directly, that passing around at the back is only acceptable if you draw players in then break quickly (which we almost never do) and that it’s high risk very low reward.
I don’t agree we’ve got a better team than now than we did two years ago or that our club is well run.
I also don’t think we’ll spend £4m on a keeper and right back if we get £15m for Piroe. Two frees with decent potential I can absolutely see happening.

He has never been any different. Good post though. Whatever we sell Piroe for, hardly any of it will be said on replacements

Changing reality to fit a narrative is. Like pretending Ayew scored a load of long range goals as opposed to being pretty much a poacher and a penalty specialist when it came to his goals.
Pretending that Grimes, Fulton and Cabango haven’t all become better players in the last 2 seasons. Pretending Bidwell didn’t play wide left to avoid admitting Cooper is better.
The list is endless.
If you prefer Ayew then be my guest, the poll will never agree though because Piroe is quite clearly an upgrade and especially so in this system.

Ayew was never a range shooter, I haven’t said he was. I do think he’d get a lot of goals with the chances he’d get in this team.
Grimes, Fulton and Cabango have all improved under Martin yes, it’s one of the few feathers in his cap.
I’m haven’t mentioned Bidwell and certainly don’t dispute that Cooper is a better manager. I’ve said so multiple times in the last few weeks alone.

Why do you continually deal in opinions as fact?
If you want to deal in facts from Piroe this season to Ayew in his last. Ayew outperforms his XG by 0.09 Piroe only by 0.04. Ayew has a much better shot conversion rate. More assists, key passes, passes per 90. More dribbles and succesful ones, draws more fouls. And defensively had more tackles, ground duels, aerial duels, clearances. The list goes on.

Which chances do you think we get in this team then out of interest?
Again, the person who has had the most chances in the 6 yard box is Harry Darling. A third of our top scorers goals come from long range shots. We have the third lowest touches in the opponents 6 yard box - which is where Ayew got 60% of his non penalty goals from, with only 1 being outside the box.
This becomes obvious when you see our attacking heat map, we don’t go near the opponents danger area, the area Ayew thrives. So what chances are you referring to? It seems purely set up for someone of Piroes skillset.

What do you think is opinion?
xG isn’t a measure of individual performance, it’s a measure of team performance. xG is simply expected goals, it is based on quality of chance provided to the player.
This will be highly skewed by penalties for example. Piroe has scored 3 and Ayew 10, it’s a huge impact on this stat.
If you are to use data, please know what it is you are presenting.
No data on Ayews first season with regards to shots but he scored the same amount of penalties (5) and scored 1 less overall, so it must be very similar to the 17.1% seen in the second season as an upper range, although likely to be worse considering as a team we took more shots in season 1 under Cooper than season 2.
He certainly did more defensive work, agreed - but that’s because he was not a natural striker and played in a defensive system. That’s not a positive, you don’t want your number 9 to be active in defence in a high possession system.
Assists, he is very so slightly better on. But you are talking about the difference of 4 extra assists in total, in 2067 extra minutes on the pitch which equates to about 23 extra games for Ayew.

Almost everything you post is an opinion portrayed as fact. You are a quite condescending individual who must have the last say and be correct on every single topic. It's good to know that irrefutable statistics are not good enough to back up any point so long as that point is not aligned with yourself. Have a good day arguing with the clouds.

Your data wasn’t irrefutable though.
You included penalties in an xG and shot conversion comparison, that’s statistically flawed.
When Roger freestone used to take penalties his xG and shot conversion data would be better than any strikers in the land, probably on the planet.
Take penalties away and it becomes zero, in line with reality.
I’ll ignore the personal comments.

We’re 7th in the footystats xg table with 1.62. We were 17th in the Ayew season with 1.19
That literally means nothing. You are attributing chances from other players to him.
For example you are giving Darlings 7 foot high crosses to Ayew, you are giving Piroes long range shots, you are giving obafemis through balls and subsequent 1 on 1’s… in other words chances that would absolutely not fall to him.
Again, if using data please understand it.
As per usual, all the work has been done for you with regards to data, all you have to do is read it.
So whatever our xG as a side is, in any given year - Piroe will score more as he finishes a higher % of chances that come his way. Much of which aren’t chances at all, they are 25 yard pile drivers. It’s this subverting of reality that I described as argumentative earlier by the way.
Thankfully the majority in the poll seem to understand.
