My Mum 16:10 - Jan 22 with 6941 viewsPinnerPaul

Sadly my Mum passed away yesterday.

Not unexpected as she had been in decline for several months..

She had a long and happy life (would have been 88 next month) and that's all of us can ask for.

As a 62 year old I realise I was lucky to have for so long.

From a QPR supporting family she married another mad QPR fan and she and my Dad were very happy.

Rather apt that she passed away around the time we scored yesterday and that I found out while in W12. I saw her last on Thursday.

She was always asking me about "the Rangers" and my refereeing, so I will continue on here, even though I might not get quite so worked up as usual in the next few days if anyone starts talking nonsense about the laws!

Condolences from me as well, Paul.

The fact she passed just as the goal went in, that she was happily married to your Dad who loved the R's as well, and that she kept such a keen interest in the club and your refereeing sounds like a sign from God that she was in a very contented and peaceful state when she passed, and you can't really ask for more than that.

I lost my Mum 24 years ago this week. She was just 56, younger than I am now, and we had a complicated relationship that she we never really resolved before she died. I've often been envious of friends who had the kind of relationship with their Mum that you obviously had with yours, so I hope you'll be able to look back at that soon and remember her with pride. RIP PinnerPaul's Mum.

Sorry for your loss Paul and best wishes to all your family.

I lost my mum 4 years ago earlier this month (3 January, the day before her 61st birthday).

Similar to the poster above me I had an awkward relationship with mine due to alcohol abuse (as a result I have been teetotal all my life) and it was never really discussed or resolved, but it also meant I feel I've had a big motherly gap in my life which I have been envious of others who had wonderful mums and normal relationships with them.

May she rest in peace and may you all hold all those memories fondly.

Sorry for your loss, mate. My mum went 11 years ago and would have been 83 this year. I still momentarily think "Mum'll like to hear that" and think about phoning her, so it won't ever leave.

Hope the coming days go as well as they can...

Can we go out yet?

I also had a not entirely easy relationship with my mum. It must be such a loss to lose a mum with whom you're so close. She sounds a lovely person with a great relationship with your dad.

Refereeing decisions aren't important at all under the circs.

Take care of yourself and hug all your other loved ones.

Sorry to hear your sad news. One of the great things about this site and being Rangers fans is the feeling of mutual support. By the way, I always enjoy reading your contributions..long May they continue.. keep them good as your mum will surely be watching.

I'm very sorry for your loss Paul & condolences to all of your family.

From my experience, there will be moments in the next few weeks that you won't be able to look at a messageboard (due to little time or energy ), but at other times ity may a release for you.

Best wishes to you Paul.

Lovely words about your mum Paul. It struck a chord with me as my mum, who died at 88, back in 2014 always asked me how Rangers got on whenever I went to see her in her last few years even though she had severe dementia.

Condolences on your loss and may your mum RIP.

Sad to hear your news Paul.

May your mum start causing chaos and mischief up above and sure you will be reunited with her when the time comes.

Its a belief that has helped me.

Last couple of years my mum passed aged 78 and dad under a year later aged 82.

I still have the odd chat with them and they still give me what for when they wish !!!

It's tough at any age and life seems much more precious when parents pass.

It's a strange old life so am sure this can't be all it is.

I not particularly religious myself but have a belief people still around in some senses and we will all be together again somehow and having fun.

I found for a while the painful memories outshone the fun times but it takes time and no right or wrong way to grieve.

Wishing you all best Paul.

Rest in Peace Mum

So sorry about this news Paul. I think you are one of the most interesting posters on here with your refereeing perspectives. Please continue always!
