Players collapsing on the pitch 08:24 - Dec 12 with 8594 views | Jellybaby | This seems to be the elephant in the room. I have been following football man and boy for 50 years, I have never known such a time as this when hardly a week goes by with out another story of a player collapsing or having breathing difficulties, Yesterday it was Victor Lindelof. Surely there must be an urgent review into this - why this year, young men at the peak of fitness are collapsing. When Trevor Sinclair mentioned a possible link between the covid jab and John Fleck's collapse he was immediately cut off by Talk Sport, https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10241903/Trevor-Sinclair-blasted-vaccin I am against the coercion and mandating of this jab, but this is not point scoring. These events are tragic. I am genuinely interested in what Uglies think about this, why is it happening and what can be done?

Players collapsing on the pitch on 09:05 - Dec 12 with 5913 views | Poirot | No evidence in the uk about footballers having any issue with covid vaccine. In fact many haven’t even had the vaccine, so it’s a dead elephant. Professor Keith Neal of the University of Nottingham - who specialises in the research of the epidemiology of infectious diseases - believes it's irresponsible to make those suggestions based on little evidence. He told The Telegraph: "Given the track record of certain footballers in the field of anti-vaccine beliefs, it is totally irresponsible to make these unsubstantiated comments, as opposed to getting them properly dealt with." Professor Robert Dingwall, public health specialist at Nottingham Trent’s School of Social Sciences, also added: "It may be tempting to blame Covid vaccines but pundits do have a public responsibility not to fuel vaccine hesitancy without any real evidence that this is a common factor in widely separated events." Did you see what you did there Sogs? You are trying to close down debate on something that is actually happening by equating it to a conspiracy theory and implying it is not worth discussing because of that. Can you not do any better than that? At least Poirot came up with an alternative option.

Interesting! It would be foolish to ignore it, but to have any credence , you need to have figures pre-vaccine. If there is clear evidence, it will no doubt be covered up. It did make me think about my brother in law, who was rushed into hospital with a brain bleed several months ago. It will be interesting to find out whether it was following his vaccine.

Yes I can see what I did there Jelly. The conspiracy theorists are trying to shoe horn anything they can in to support their spurious arguments. People have been collapsing on football pitches as long as people have been playing football. People in crowds have been collapsing for as long as there have been crowds. Back in the 70’s the manager of the team I used to play for (aged 39) collapsed and died on the touch line. Sadly these things happen. Guess what? Now we are being led to believe that it is part of this move to depopulate the planet. Maybe it's more likely he was breathless because he had Covid back in August and the virus could have caused some long term damage? Logic, evidence and sensible reason shows that catching Covid is many many more times likely to either damage you temporarily or permanently than having a vaccine which will help prevent you catching or becoming seriously ill this virus in the first place

I am sorry to hear about your brother in law and hope he is fine now. I had a small bleed on the brain several years ago which had no obvious cause but was years before covid vaccines. My football manager who died at a match was found to have a congenital defect in the brain which could have ruptured when he was born when he was very old, anytime in between or not at all. There are billions of people on the earth, many of whom will contract health issues which will kill some early on in their lives. Let’s not start attributing the covid vaccine to every death or collapse. If there is a link we will find out in time, but to assume that any person collapsing who has had the vaccine is a victim of this global conspiracy that we have all been duped is just silly and very previous. What if I posted something talking about the number of people collapsing each day who haven’t been vaccinated? Does that make a case against the anti vax brigade? https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2021/dec/01/blog-posting/theres-no-proof-c [Post edited 12 Dec 2021 15:23]

I can agree that there is a danger of shoehorning in facts to suit your argument, but equally people can suffer from cognitive dissonance and not accept some thing as it becomes more and more likely to be the truth. I remember the Bolton player collapsing in 2012, I remember Jock Stein having a heart attack, yes of course these things happened in the past, but to deny that 2021 has not been exceptional for players collapsing and suffering with chest/heart problems is a bit much Sogs. Thanks for the link, but I don't trust Fifa. This subject of footballers collapsing on the pitch is worthy of it's own thread, it's pretty incongruous it hasn't had one before on a football forum.

Players collapsing on the pitch on 16:03 - Dec 12 with 5561 views | ParanoidHemroid | He's doing ok thanks. It only just dawned on me that the two things happened at similar times. That's all! Like I said. You need figures for previous years to start accusing the vax as the cause. I agree! But it needs to be looked into, would your agree? The majority on TUI seem to have their views cast in stone. Defending your opinion without much thought, or respect for differing views . Just a battle of egos. If you weren't all so aggressive, you may find you can have different opinions without the resentment. That's how you evolve. If your opinion turns into your agenda, it's not worth very much. Be philosophers. Open your mind. Let go of that need to be right. It's not f***ing good for you. Merry Christmas! : )

Players collapsing on the pitch on 16:34 - Dec 12 with 5516 views | Poirot | It may not just be black or white, but if suggestions are going to be made then some evidence is needed. I think the situation is telling with the german munich player and his long covid causing breathing problems that have stopped him from playing. Im aware of people here in southampton who have had covid and its taken them several months to get back to their basic gym fitness before infection. Im sure i read somewhere that any vaccine side effects, only shows within hours to days and not way down the road. [Post edited 12 Dec 2021 18:08]

I would settle for some recognition that sadly, some very fit people have always collapsed and died - because a myriad of minor irregularities can become fatal when a body is pushed to extremes. Pulmonary embolism being just one example. But mainly, why is there no recognition that we are now in an internet age when a minor footballer in the East Bengal Second Division can collapse now and it is global in seconds ready to picked up as "evidence" of some idiot conspiracy theory. Even ten years ago, would you have heard of him? Because he was there, long before Covid was created. So no - there is not even a correlation to causate - it is just the reach and availability of data that has changed, that is all.
Players collapsing on the pitch on 18:07 - Dec 12 with 5475 views | DorsetIan | Nuts like 68 and Jelly, who jump on anything to try to highlight vaccine downsides, can’t even acknowledge that vaccines are saving millions of lives. They’re just not worth listening to, so one-sided is there perspective. I dare say, like all drugs, there are side effects to these vaccines, but I’ll let the scientists give me a balanced view of the pros and cons, not some I’ll-informed anti-vax fantasists.

So Ian, go on record now and say that you fully condone your children being subjected to this vaccine..just a simple yes will do.

We are probably not going to get real evidence, as an individual's medical (including vax) status is supposed to be a private matter and if they were happy to say they had been vaxxed, the media would want to hush it up, as would be seen as "misinformation" If these events are as a result of covid, you would have thought the cases may have started in 2020?

This isn’t some quaint debate about fishing quotas. You anti-vaxxers are a serious plague on the health chances of many people. I’ll call a spade a spade. And if the response is predictable, it’s because the stupidity from you is always the same.

If there is a problem with the vaccines that causes normally healthy people to collapse I am willing to listen to the evidence and accept it as a fact. What I am not going to do is start worrying about there being a massive health issue with the vaccination programme without any evidence.
